I'm hosting a raw sushi (i guess that would really be maki, but who cares) night at my house. Does anyone have any great suggestions or ideas. I want something a little more exciting than just vegetable rolls. I'm already making mango, almond butter, thai basil rolls. Any and all ideas, no matter how crazy are much appreciated. And anyone in the Providence, RI area is more than welcome to come as long as you bring a few rolls.

I've done some with a cheese base, nacho cheese, broccoli and cauli, also sunflower seed pate with sprouts, carrots, asperagus.

This page (http://www.fromsadtoraw.com/Recipes/RawSushi.htm) should give you a lot of ideas...

Awesome, andypdx. Thanks for sharing. With this and your ice cream today, you're making me very happy!
Glad you raised the question, emari. Too bad it's too far from Arlington, VA to Providence for me to take you up on your nice invite.
Best,
Rawmney

Thai basil?
Care to share?
I want to try it with the ginger unsteamed rice. I think a lowfat version is great (without all the pate, not that I don't like pate')....

i don't have any ideas but I would like to know...when are you hosting it? My neighbor has a house in RI near there....she lives there alll summer. She is pesco-vegetarian and LOVES sushi so it would be cool to go with her and show her the good stuff lol.

Maki - rice on the outside.
I googled it. Work is so slow today. :)

Maki is usually used to describe the 'rolls'. Rice inside or out. There are hand rolls (cone shaped, not sliced) and maki (in the bamboo mat, sliced)..

Thanks for the recipes and links. If anyone is seriously intersted in coming, I would love to have you. Its going to be Thursday May 31 at 7:30pm at my apartment. I live at 848 Hope St.#3 on the East Side. I hope to see some of you there. Also, check out the Providence Raw Food Meetup Group at http://rawfood.meetup.com/294/.
