Yesterday after I made my hubbie's green smoothie before work I gathered up the ingredients and put them in them away. I use frozen fruit, so put the strawberries back in the freezer...
Well, when my dh came home to make a salad he asked me if we had any spinach left and I said "sure, right on the middle shelf" but when we looked it was not there! I had put it in the freezer along with the strawberries!:(
This morning I used the spinach in our smoothies and got to thinking...
Is it alright/safe to freeze greens? I know it is not optimal nutrition to use frozen foods, but for variety and convenience we do use them as part of our diet. I was wondering if it would be alright to have them frozen to use in smoothies??
I know there have been many times that we have thrown away greens due to the "slime factor" - so it would sure be cool to be able to use more food before spoilage.
Any thoughts, cautions, comments??
TIA
