I read the posts of those who want to lose weight. How about the guys and even the girls who do not want to lose weight but gain it.
I am 6'1 and currently weigh 168 pounds. I was a constant 183 - 185 at about 65% raw. 35 years old.
The most I ever weighed was 205. That was in college on a SAD diet and taking many different supplements while working out daily. That was nearly 15 years ago.
I have been an off and on vegan for nearly 15 years, no meat for that long for sure. I have been 100% raw for almost a year and nearly 65% over the previous 3 years.
I quit working out when I went 100% raw, I wanted to see what would happen to the muscle I had. For the first three months I maintained my weight and muscle, but the last six was not kind, it is all gone and weight is not going back on. The combination of not working out and not eating enough calories will not allow me too. So I decided last week that I would go back to the gym and start working out. That is the easy part, I love to be active and doing physical things. But the calorie intake is another thing.
I read on here what people pay for food per month and I wonder if they are spending time grazing in the field with the horses to save money. I quit keeping a log of what I spend to eat a month, a few months ago. The amount I will need to spend to gain muscle is nuts. Only eating fresh raw veggies and fruit, and not all organic. I always find it odd that to eat healthy it should cost so much, when I could fill up on a years supply of Pringles for 50 bucks(slight exaggeration).
The raw lifestyle is not difficult to follow for me, I love the food. I don't crave cooked food or refined sugar ever. I have never felt better energy wise ever, I am non stop nearly 17 hours a day. I very rarely get tired. So eating this way is well worth it, But, I do not like the fact that I look skinny, which I would say looks unhealthy.
So my goal is to gain back 10 pounds of muscle over the next year being 100% raw. I am going to need to keep a log of food bought and money spent, I want to see the figures of what it takes to get about 4000 or so calories a day to increase my weight.
I already eat bananas like I am a Monkey, sometimes I wonder why I don't live in a jungle, and wear a loin cloth.
I am just typing as I think, so if I have rambled on to much sorry.
I think I will post some pictures I will take tomorrow and post them. May post a new one every two weeks. Not to sure about that though, not real eager to have my pic on the net.
Please post your thoughts of comments about wanting to gain healthy weight or anything else is fine too.
Have a great night
