Hello fellow health nuts;

Today is day # 20 for me of a 100% raw diet. All is going well and I feel wonderful. The biggest changes:

Allergies! I have had awful allergies my whole life, especially with mold and pollen. Going Vegan 5 years ago got me off the meds, but the allergies were still bad. Aside from an occasional runny nose, my allergy problems are NO MORE! Mold is extremely high where I am at right now, so I know that this is working.

Weight! I am already skinny, but I have lost 9 pounds. This is not my goal, but I realize that my body will decide it's appropriate weight and shape once stabilized on the raw diet. I am working out again, mostly upper body. After a little more confidence, you may see a pic or two.

Fortunately, I have a wonderful Vegan girlfriend who is on day 4 of raw, and completely supportive. Last night she made a spinach curry dip with tons of veggies, and I matched it with a tomato/cucumber/avacado/corn salad with bragg's cider and EVOO. I can't stress enough how having an understanding and motivating partner makes a difference!

So why am I telling you all of this? Because comments that I have read on here like this have helped keep me on the wagon. Hopefully, this will help someone else. I am keeping everything simple, and my body is happy.

My average day:
B: Carrot Juice, then later bananas and grapefruit
L: HUGE salad with organic field greens and any fruit or veg that looks good at the time (Takes me an hour to eat)
D: Another salad, not quite as big, and then a simple creation based on my mood
I have also been hitting the ice cream: Frozen Bananas and pineapple through the Champion Juicer with raw macadamia nuts and one drop of pure peppermint oil (the macadamias through the champion MAKE the dish).

We have lots of homemade banana nut bars on hand usually, which are great snacks. I have also noticed my water intake has decreased a LOT, so I am not forcing any down. Amazing what the lack of cooked foods does to you!

Anyway, stay raw all! It really is worth the discipline.

That's wonferful!!! Raw really is worth the discipline.

I've also noticed my water needs have decreased - A LOT.

how do you make your banana nut bars? I've tried a few different ways, but my kids need variety... so the more recipes, the better :)

That is so great Mike. Thanks for sharing your success. It sounds like you are eating mostly fruits? Have you had any detox symptoms?

About 6 RIPE bananas
1 pound nut soaked (I have been using Walnuts)
1 or 2 cups raisins
Coconut and/or Cinnamon to taste

I throw the nuts in a food processor, then add to bananas and raisins and mix up by hand until a big mushy mess. I then add the coconut and cinnamon. Dehydrate overnight, maybe more depending on dehydrator.

These last quite a while in a plastic container. They won't last long anyway ...

I AM eating a lot of fruit, but also getting my veggies in. Every salad has celery, corn, and carrot, as well as TONS of greens. Practically no detox symptoms, but I have been vegan for several years with very little processed food.

Way to go! I have been through many improvments myself just since beginning down the raw path! And it's only been 7 weeks since I started, and only 18 days 100% raw!

Keep it up. Good stuff this raw stuff is!

Good job Mike. I am right there with ya at 22 days raw. I am also feeling really good. Only some mild rash on my legs for detox so far! That is great that you have a partner who supports what you are doing. I am hoping to get my hubby going on this someday!

Great job Mike. Your story is motivation to me. I know all the reasons that I should and I do good most of the time. I even juice twice a day and I am mostly raw, but I still have addictions to bad foods at times. It is also great that your girlfriend is supportive of you. My husband is also of me, but far away from eating well.

Mike-

Your news is awesome. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. Hearing stories like yours helps me to stay committed!

Lori Ann-

I love Sandusky! I drove thru and stopped for ice cream last summer. I can;t recall the name of the place, but it's been there forever. Although I no longer eat dairy, I treasure the memeory of that strawberry ice cream cone. The day was hot, and the cone was heaven... (Of course now I can just have my own banana strawberry ice cream at home! ;) )

Mike! That is great! Isn't it amazing how wonderful eating raw makes you feel? AND having the support, that is great.
One thing you might want to experiment around with is green smoothies. The possibilities are endless as to what you can put into them. I can't go a day without about a quart of it. Good stuff!
Congrads on your raw journey. It seemed like a natural transition from Vegan to raw, huh? Same with me. I was Vegetarian for 26 years, then Vegan for 2 and now raw for 10 months. It just felt right.
Good job!
