I'm looking to lose about 10 pounds, and I'm looking for suggestions on what to do, because honestly, I didn't start on raw to lose weight, I just wanted to feel good, and I felt FANTASTIC for the first 5 months or so, but now I feel unbalanced and I have some issues with overeating that I'm still working on. I've been trying to focus on chewing, and meditating to alleviate stress so that I don't cram food in my mouth without thinking about it.

(I'm in the 90%-ish raw zone, I know the spices I use have been heated/treated, and I take supplements and use non-raw cocoa powder occasionally.)

Anyhow, I'd LOVE to get suggestions on how to release the extra weight that I'm carrying.
I'll answer any questions about what I eat, exercise etc.
I'd like a group diagnosis of what I can/should be doing on raw :)
I plan on a week fast once the spring semester is over, to start afresh.

The basics on what I eat: (here is what I had today.)
1 small apple
1.5 oranges
6 bananas (medium)
1/4 walnuts
0.5 avocado
3 med. Mushrooms (button)
6 cups spinach
2 Kiwi fruits
3 cups strawberries
1 tsp. (yes, TEAspoon) coconut oil
2 Tomatoes
and a few blueberries thrown in.
(According to fitday: 1500 calories, 26% fat)

Obviously, by looking at that I realize that I like fruits and sweets and fats. It's been getting less and less natural for me to eat veggies, and I have to make a conscious decision to get my greens in, whether it be a salad or a green smoothie.

I exercise either very little, or moderately. Meaning that I'll go through weeks where I'll walk 3 miles every day (uphill), or I'll be sedentary ish and sit in my classes, read, research online etc. I do yoga once a week in a class, but it's what I consider to be light effort yoga.

I'm 18.
5'2"
116 lbs., but I have a small frame, and I have a tendency to accumulate fat on my stomach area.

Give me your thoughts! <3
(and if I wasn't clear with the MAIN point of this thread:
please give me your thoughts/opinions on what I should do to release the extra body fat I've accumulated.

Are there raw foods that you are craving but not allowing yourself to have?

There are many schools of thought but just going from my own experience so far I am learning that I have many nutritional deficiencies. There may be many causes including I may need to do a serious colon cleanse but the effect on me is that I do overeat in a serious way. In my case I think it is my body trying to eat my way to the nutrition it wants but in some cases I do not know what that is. In other cases I do - like I craved the seaweed and now I have it and have also learned that in my particular case I really need it.

So my conclusion is, enjoy your food, spoil yourself with every raw luxury that you desire, and my hypothesis is that if you do this you will reach your perfect weight.

Are you drinking enough water everyday? (at least 8 8 oz glasses). I am reading a book right now about having an alkaline system and about how important getting enough water is. If you don't drink enough water you will get dehydrated and your body will actually hold unto weight. When you drink enough water your metabolism actually speeds up and of course it helps flush out toxins. He recommends drinking distilled water because it is the most alkaline and then add lemons or limes to it (because both also make your system more alkaline. He also warns about eating a lot of fruit because it all turns to sugar so I think you need to balance your diet out a bit and include more greens, avacados, young coconuts, etc. He said the reason most people are overweight is because their bodies are too acidic and fat is a way of protecting our bodies from acid, so the fat cells store a lot of this acid. THe book is called the PH miracle and it is a doctor who writes it. I was at a plateau for a month and started drinking my water and cutting back on the fruit and the next thing you know I started realeasing again. Hope this helps. Oh and you should be exercising as much as you can handle. Oh and when you go on your fast you may want to try the master cleanse. It is fairly easy to do and it is really liveable.

I've been trying to drink .TONS. more water, as before I never really wanted it, but once I start drinking I feel like it's a long lost friend.

I'll go to market today and buy some different greens - kale, romaine etc (I noticed the lack of variety haha, but I LOVE spinach.)

Moving more. Hm. I'll just set a goal, and meet it. 2 miles a day on top of whatever else I do.

Alright. I've got some ideas :)

Any more?

Don't keep saying what you have GOT to do, just do it and before you know it, the pounds will be gone. I really believe so much of what happens to our bodies is a mind-set. If one tells themself they are fat or ugly or whatever negative, then one really believes that. But if one says, I'm somewhat overweight and I'm doing something about it, or I'm not drop-dead gorgeous, but I have a natural beauty, or whatever, then YOU start to believe that. So like Revvell said. Move more. That means with your mind too. Move forward. Don't dwell.

Hi there,

Congratulations on doing so well so far! You are doing great! You need to give yourself lots of credit for what you have accomplished so far!!

It looks like you are doing great. A few people find that they need to eat very little fat in order to lose all the weight they want to. You may want to experiment with dropping all the nuts, seeds, oils and avos for awhile and adding lots more fruit to stay satisfied. The problem with this approach is that you may not feel as satisfied and may start feeling too deprived and may be inclined to have more cravings. It is a delicate balancing act. The important is to stay satisfied with your eating and to feel abundant and happy with your food.

Wishing you all the best,

Audrey

I've heard of kombucha, but I'll look into it more :)

Veganforlife: As for attitude, you're right :)
I'm already doing it :p

As for the fats, well...I have an inkliing that the story that the more you consume the more you burn thing just isn't true. (I'm evidence. Or I'm just eating too much. Or too little. Oy!)
