I made the Happy Cow Barbeque burger and it just does not have much flavor. The inside is moist. The outside looks like your picture. I checked the recipe over and I put in everything the recipe calls for.

Should I have dehydrated it longer? Is it suppose to have a bbq flavor or even a hamburger flavor? It has neither. Thing of it is it looks just like your picture shows. Please tell me what i can do to get more flavor in it. I am sure i could prob remix it if needed.

I am sorry to hear about your mishap. Maybe you followed the direction perfectly and it just doesn't have enough flavor for your tastes. My taste buds tend to run to the lower salt/garlic/spices end - several family members have to salt my "cooking" before eating it. Having said that, I do have a few suggestions to offer.

If you make it again try adding more sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, salt and pepper. It may just be that the spices aren't present enough for you. And what about the nutritional yeast? I know it's not raw, and you may prefer to not use it - but that adds a definite flavor. You can also try increasing the celery and vinegar too. I'd leave the nut quantities where they are though.

Again, I'm sorry the recipe was disappointing. I hope these suggestions help.

Oh, it does/should have a bit of a BBQ flavor - but it won't taste like "beef" at all.

I did use the nutritional yeast as called for. I guess i didnt know what to expect and was disappointed. I am not getting rid of them. I will just do somethings with them to please my pallet. I do like food with zip. I dont use a lot of salt. Next time i will just add more onions and other spices. It is a great recipe and does make a lot so i can freeze some for later.:D
Thanks

Oh gosh! So sorry too. I made them and absolutely love them. In fact I'm down to my last two, so I've got to make some more. They freeze wonderfully. They have a very unique flavor and texture. I really, really like them.

My friend made burgers once and forgot about them. She dehydrated them for like a week or something, it was ridiculous (she has a 2000 square foot raw kitchen with like 8 9 try excaliburs lined up next to each other, um yeah, it's heaven to work out of it). Anyways, they were the BEST CHIPS IN THE WORLD. :D The more you dehydrate, the more concentrated the flavor....
