I am curious to see what everybody is planting this year and your garden sizes?

For me I have a small garden 15 x 20
with tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, squash, sugar snaps, onions,
basil, thyme, mint, spinach.

Does anybody have any pictures or realy good growth yet?

My garden is going to be massive with several beds. Started seeds indoors and now I have lots of tomatoes, cukes, squash, peppers (had to buy), etc. I have not planted yet as Colorado weather is crazy for these summer type veggies so a few weeks out. I can plant the root veggies however and even some lettuces. No pictures yet.

I don't have any pics of my garden but I have 5 earthboxes. I've already had to replant my tomatoes. Frost got them. And my peppers. Bugs got them. And most likely my lemon cucumbers. Slugs got them. Aargh! I do have some Safer's Insectisidal Soap now and hopefully the rest will survive. I have two Early Girl tomatoes, one red grape, one yellow one that looks like grape but a bit larger, two yellow and two red bell pepper plants, the lemon cukes, two kinds of onions, butter lettuce, parsley, three kinds of mint, rosemary, and lavender. I also have a large strawberry patch, two kinds of apple, two kinds of pear and one cherry tree. I am not at all happy about one apple and one pear tree. Hubby took to pruning it and did it wrong on purpose. I think he wants to kill the trees. There is not much left of them now. The remaining apple tree was not overly productive, producing only on one or two branches and for the past few years, those apples have gotten sunburn so there was nothing there to eat.

My garden is in containers. Will take pics.

6 bell peppers in a box hubby built. (This is their 3rd year, I think). The frost got them. So I cut them back drastically and they sprouted out again. Now they have blooms all over them. They look odd because the stalks are so thick with only a good start of leaves and full of blooms.

5 banana peppers, 2 in one pot and 3 in the other. They are several years old also and were originanlly in the ground. I potted them last fall. They are kind of lanky looking and really need to be cut back. I keep waiting till they are not producing and that hasn't happened. Those plants have produced peppers continuously even through the winter. We had them inside when it was too cold outside.

7 new bush tomatoes. They were all planted at the same time. 4 are maybe 8" high, 1 a little larger, 1 maybe 14'" and the other 20" and covered in blooms - what's up?

4 grape tomatoes about 6" high.

Basil, thyme, oregano, sage, mints: chocolate, lemon balm, orange, peppermint, spearmint, (can't think), lime mint. Cilantro. Cucumbers that have been planted twice and still don't look good. Rosemary that's several years old.

I had zucchini and the cold got them, haven't replanted yet.

When I purchased my house it was a little cottage dump, and I'm trying to make it the most fairy tale thing anyone has seen. I have already planted ivy and climbing roses and honey suckles on the castle stones of my house and I made a little garden with ferns and some other plants.
I still want to grow some crops and maybe even put in some purple grapes along my garage. It will be my little wonderland!

In april the last part of april here we had freezing weather, then I've been swamped at work myself and was getting kind of bummed that I have not been able to get my garden going sooner.

Will continue the list when I can see them. The bird bath is full of little plants needing to be planted. Also got 1 each of every kind of hot pepper I've found, and gave them to my daughter. She loves them.

I planted a couple of weeks ago, and what's coming up so far: beans, tomatoes, cauliflower, beets, pumpkins, melons, broccoli rabe; strawberry plants going strong!

Still waiting on the others to peek up! This weekend, I will be putting in parsley, lovage, cilantro, and I'm not sure what else yet!

Would love to see pictures of your garden too!

Mary!!! I just read the "Square Foot Gardener" and I can't wait to get my garden in! I'm going to use your picture to show DH "the plan" ....he doesn't "get it"! Thanks...is this the first time you've used this technique??? Any tips would be appreciated!!

I planted my garden about 3 weeks ago. 7 tomato plants, 3 basil plants, Italian parsley, pineapple sage. Tomato plants are growing like crazy with little green tomatoes all over. I used my whole compost pile on this, and it is wonderful!:D If you don't have a compost pile, I recommend you start one now!

I sooooo need to get busy on my garden. Right now all I have done, is a built a new raised bed and filled it 1/4 way with dirt. So need to get some more dirt in there and get some plants a growing!

I've currently 5 beds. 2 are 4x8 10deep these are for tomatotes, lettuces carrots, peas and the other 2 are 3x4 and 6" deep One houses some strawberries, that always ripen while i"m on holidays and the birds EAT THEM...grrr. and the last one is 3x8 and 10" deep and has my raspberries. Again, them there birds.

I'm building another likely to be 4x8. But I'm having issues with poor crops. I think i let it get too dry :( So I'll try again..lol. Seeds are cheap. I'm thinking this year will be the year of greens..lol. Every 2 weeks, I'll be seeding a new section of greens. Then I can have lots greens all season, and maybe even vacuum seal some for the winter. Of course for green smoothies(I'm hooked!).

Here's my seedlings I am so proud of resting in the sunroom still for anotehr two weeks--our frost free date before hitting the garden. I can't believe the results. First time trying with seeds indoors and see the results. Organic of course.

Ah...I went back and looked over everybodies pictures here and they look so cool, especially now that it's snowing outside:rolleyes:
I have a question for all of you outthere in gardener land:
I've recently ran across a good deal on picking up some mulch holders for the winter time - Big 55 gallon black and blue plastic barrels. For putting food scraps and leaves and such in it for the garden next year. What are you 'll doing to prepare for it?:confused: :)

i have a compost/mulch pile outside my garden that i just add to..
the plastic compost tumbler (55 gal black) is just too frozen to use.
i will shovel from the heap into the barrel as soon as we thaw out
to begin composting again for my most beloved garden.
my 'happy' place :D

It is cold, wet, rainy here. Boo hoo. I miss gardening. I miss the warmth of the sun. :( I don't want to go to work tonight...I want to stay home where it is warm and cozy. No.... That has nothing to do with this subject. Sorry....;) Okay I'll be good and go to work tonight. :rolleyes:

Maybe it's time to plant some herbs inside and sprout things. My buckwheat has little tails again another successful sprouting. :)
