View Full Version : Ugh - I messed up, big time.

For the last week, I've been about 75% raw and 100% vegan. And, I've felt great. I used to need 10 hours of sleep to function - I was getting by on 6 and feeling good. Today, however, I managed to undo it all.

Last night I made some of Alissa's Almond Butter Balls - oooo, I ate them all from last night to tonight. Yummmmmmm. I ate fruit for breakfast, and then - tthe bad part. It was my husband's nephew's First Communion today. We went back to my sister-in-law's house for a party afterwards and I took a huge portion of the salad she had, no dressing (she had Ranch and Bleu Cheese). But then, I made a terrible decision - I took and ate a piece of chicken.

Let me tell you, I am PAYING for it.

My arthritis is KILLING me. I was detoxing before, so I was in some pain, but this is incredible. And it's settled in my shoulders, as well. Plus, I have a headache. Oh my, what a bad, bad decision.

Anyway, tomorrow is a new day. I have organic apples, bananas and oranges for breakfast. I will stop by Feel-Rite and get a Joyous Juice (can't remember all the ingredients, but I know there's apple, kale and celery in it), too. And this little faux pas has convinced me I need to commit to 100% raw. My husband has given me the green light, as anything that will get me out of pain will get him out of pain, too ;) :D

So here i go - a journey of a thousands miles begins with a single step (I'm sure I screwed up that old cliche), and since I took ten steps back today, I'm commiting to start forward again.

Don't beat yourself up over it. Lesson learned. :o

Oh I agree about not beating yourself up about it. Your body is paying you back and I'm certainly not gonna say how awful you were, so just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again. Today is a brand new day!

Just keep looking forward to keeping yourself raw. I honestly think these little lessons are a great demonstration of why we start going raw to begin with. It will give you greater strength in the future to resist these temptations.

Every journey has detours and what some think might be short cuts which end up being they have to turn around and come back... no biggie. This wasn't a "mess up" it was a lesson. That's all. The universe throws these things our way so we can share with others when it's their turn.

Enjoy!

Hey, if all it took to help you commit to 100% was a piece of chicken...

...Bless that chicken!

Little fall...big recovery! Awesome for you!

Thank you everyone. Today, I woke up with a sore throat. I am certainly learning my lesson. So far, I've had two apples, a banana and an orange. I am going to try Russell James' Wilted Kale Salad with a Creamy Chipotle Dressing again (the raw way, with jalapenos instead of chipotles) but this time, rinse off the kale a bit after wilting it.

Don't sweat it. As you said - today's a new day! I ate my first real sad meal in 5 months on Friday - sushi for my b'day... a tradition. Yeah, it was absolutely delicious, but I felt like a stuffed pinata afterward! Right back to raw and feelin' good. =) Hang in!
