does anyone do this?? what are the benefits? l ate mostly fruit last time I was raw, but I want to incorporate all kinds of raw foods into my diet, but I find them hard to digest. Blending everything came to mind, and I was just wondering if anyone had experience to share??

Lots of people do the fasting with juices. Some say that the water fast is too hard on a body not used to fasting. Personally if I do the blended and juiced route too much my teeth get ticklish to bite into something. EYB tells me that she "chews" her juices. Lately I have been juicing everyday for health nutrition. I think that there are threads on here dedicated to blending and juicing recipes.

I think that it is pertinant that we chew when possible. Blending and juicing if fine, but I don't think it should be one's primary diet (unless they HAD to due to tooth issues or something OR unless on a fast/feast/cleanse where you want to give the digestive system a break to focus on cleansing/healing) - I think that what it really boils down to is, we need to slow down and really chew our food. I look at my teenage son when he eats and he just WOOFS food down - he may chew it several times and then it's swallowed.
So, I believe that thoroughly chewing raw foods will aid in digestion and eating more raw foods, in part, will help to re-train and heal your digestive system.
If the foods are like the tougher leafy greens, then by all means have green smoothies - but I think (and I'm no expert here) that it's best to have some chewing as chewing produces saliva and saliva contains enzymes that contribute to the chemical process of digestion. I guess that is why I've heard some say to "chew" your smoothies or juice to bring about that saliva and to start the digestion process.

As the saying goes,"use it or loose it".
This pertains to the teeth, too.
Teeth were meant to be used. If they don't get used, they will fall out. That is why we have opposing teeth when chewing. If a tooth doesn't have an opposing one, it could fall out for lack of use.
Also, the gums need stimulation for proper health they need circulation which comes from using them.

...and Victoria Botenko agrees with you! She even recommends a mouth guard (kind of like the ones athletes use) to chew on a few minutes a day to build up saliva and also to prevent bone loss. ~ Cathy

What about chewing gum, as an extra...?
Is there something like "raw chewing gum"?

There aren't any "raw" gums (that I am aware of) but there are more "natural" ones such as Peelu or Xylachew that don't have the aspartame, etc.
One could also look into (African) chew sticks (for example, these: http://www.houseofnubian.com/IBS/SimpleCat/Shelf/ASP/Hierarchy/04.html)

Looks great, this product, also as a labelfanatic, I like this sentence:
"All the ingredients are raw and have not been heated beyond 115 degrees"
It is not so difficult to be clear, unless there is something to hide.
Also the text on your t-shirt is ok, I happen to experience that the word
"living" is much more effective in communication than the word "raw".
