Hi All-
I am so confused as to what to eat for my internal balance for healthy skin that i have resorted to a fast..
Has a fast ( water or certain juices) helped anyone clear up their incessant skin issues, particularly acne?
THANKS!

the most effective thing outside of 100% raw ive found to date is being 100% organic. i had 1 non-organic banana about 5 days ago because i ran out of my own organic ones and stole from my familys bananas, and the next morning i woke with a breakout.
i think hypnocat has also attested before how 100% organic is necessary for her also to maintain clear skin. that and a LOT of water..i drink probably 128 oz a day. 64 ounces upon rising, 64 before bed..with green smoothies in between (made with dark greens).. give or take a few ounces. its helping a lot..a lot a lot.
also, desert essence products work very well for me. their tea tree oil face wipes and their blemish touch stick.

ive found that for me, even if i remove the peel of an inorganic fruit, it will still lead to breakouts.
i know 100% organic is pricier, but it has really helped with my skin
i know exactly how you feel right now. believe me.

pretty much completely clear, except for scarring im dealing with.
lately ive been living on green smoothies and bananas. i probably eat about 3 cups of blueberries, 3 cups of raspberries, 50 oz of fresh squeezed OJ, 1/4 lb of parsley, 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of bee pollen ("not vegan" though), and a teaspoon of NFL green powder (same as Alissas) a day TOTAL, mixed up into smoothies split between likeee...oh i dunno. 6 or so smoothies everyday. and bananas, too..probably 2-3 bananas a day eaten normally (not in a smoothie). sometimes ill use kale instead of parsley, but ive been on a parsley kick. and then 128 oz of water throughout the day. all organic.
so i guess thats basically high fruit low fat. BUT..no fruit high fat also cleared me up..when it was all organic.
i thought it was fruit that made me break out before..but now after messing with my diet from high fruit to no fruit and high fat to low fat to every variation possible, i think ive finally come to the conclusion that so long as i dont mix fruit with fat in one sitting (for me PERSONALLY..though i put coconut oil in my smoothies so this might be a false assumption on my part. im just scared to really experiment with it) it doesnt matter what i eat (Raw-wise) so long as its organic. funny thing is about 10 months ago i posted a thread saying "hey guys ive cleared my skin completely with all-organic!" and then..for some reason..i stopped buying completely organic and have since battled strenuously for clear skin..while i had the answer all along.

THanks sooo much so ..you really think eating organic will be the answer..
I have done the same ...tried so many different vairantions of no fruit.high fat..etc..fruit..no far...blah blah..but that is why i was like forget eating and maybe just fasting will clear this mess up
So you just have smoothies all day long..nothing else?
how do they taste..?
can you give me sample recipe of something that tastes pretty good:)
THANKS AGAIn

well it has helped me. before ive done high fruit no fat (thats just what i prefer so far as what i crave..do whatever version of raw works for you) WITHOUT completely organic, and i still had skin issues. now im eating the SAME things..only theyre all organic..and im clearing/clear. also, i green juice fasted for 2 weeks, and it didnt clear my skin, but i wasnt using all organic celery/greens. it was MOSTLY organic, but id also throw in random leftover veggies my mom had in the fridge that werent organic. i also have apple juice fasted before, and that didnt clear my skin either. again, though, the apple juice wasnt made from organic apples.
its worth a shot. its so much easier than restricting your diet.
i eat smoothies all day just because a) im able to better digest them and b) i love them. im sure you could eat anything and everything in whole-form too.
i usually do equal parts frozen blueberries and frozen raspberries, howevere much OJ needed to reach just the top of the berries in the blender, a full handful of parsley (makes it taste soo yummy and fresh, i think) or sometimes kale (but i dont really like the taste as much and usually have throw in a banana to mask it)
thats been my favorite lately. sometimes ill do more blueberries than raspberries, or vise versa. sometimes ill throw in a banana to make it creamier, but really ive found out that if i just blend it a little longer theres no need for the banana. sometimes ill add half grapefruit juice and half OJ instead of all OJ. sometimes ill throw in an orange and half the amount of OJ (be sure to blend longer to reallllly make it smooth). i dont use strawberries just bc i suspect an allergy to them, but you could use those.
basically, ive found out that a good blend of berries with OJ and a fresh green like parsley..in most combinations..will come out yummy. if it ends up taste too green, throw in a banana, or a bit more OJ.
and also i shy away from nuts and seeds..ive found, personally, that they dont go well with my skin. even if they are organic.
give it a good week or two. that might seem like forever, but really..its worth it.

Thanks I will defintely try that..
How long do you think it takes on organic to clear up..about 2 weeks or so?
I HOPE IT WORKS>>i have run out of options:)
Also, do you think smoothies provide more nutrients than whole eating?
do you throw coconut butter in there as well?:)
SORRY I ask so many ?s

no, no worry about the ?s..thats how we all learn, right?
id say about 2 weeks. well, ive been all organic now for 10 days, and im about 95% clear..BUT i did have a non-organic banana about 5 days ago and it made me break out. if i hadnt, i suspect id be completely clear by now.
i dunno..smoothies are easier for me to digest, but so far as nutritional content im sure its still there in whole eating too. fruit doesnt come off the tree in smoothie form, ya know? ;)
i use about 1 teaspoon of coconut oil (actually its the coconut cream from artisana which is basically the whole coconut blended into a creaminess) in my first smoothie in the morning. my first smoothie is basically my power-smoothie that contains my coconut cream, NFL green powder, and bee pollen.

Ok..I will defintely try all of your suggestions:)
Do you think there are any items I should stay away from even if they are organic? I was also wondering..i drink ORGANIC kefir ..i need it for my digestive system..do you think i should lay off that as well?
thanks much

I agree with the organic. I am new to 100% raw so I can't compare my acne that way, but years ago I had break-out issues as a cooked vegan. I went completely organic and it helped imensely! I hope it woorks out for you! At first you may experience it worsening as you detox more, but it will clear up, don't worry.

For me, yes. Each person is different with their triggers, but it won't hurt ya!

hmm...well, how about you go all organic for 2 weeks, and if you see no difference THEN go all organic without the organic kefir? is it dairy? if so, theres always the possibility that youre breaking out because of the dairy, even if it is organic.

Any fruits/veggies to avoid in particular?
yaeh - avoid the really sugary fruits and starchy veggies - like bananas, navel oranges, seedless grapes, jicama, sweet potato etc.
EAT LOTS of leafy greens and veggies in general...watery fruits, berries and tart apples and carrots and tons of water...
that ought to do it:)
also try Oil Pulling (read about my experience in my blog and also go to www.curezone.com and read up on it!! exiting stuff!) and taking three tbs. og acv in water three times a day!

Fasting ALWAYS clears up my patch of skin that will break out at anything (right jawline, nothing to do with phone - at a loss). Anyways, it totally is awesome for it....
I'm on day 4 and totally noticed this already.
