Please help! My neighbor invited me knowing I have just begun my raw experiment. She said... "Well, if you want you can bring a veggie tray.."
They really think that is my only option. I don't have the experience yet to know quick and easy and impressive things to bring... I want to show them it isn't all about veggies trays!
Anyone have any quick fruit or veggie dishes I can try to bring tonight? I don't care if it's considered an entree or a dessert, I would just like to bring something besides smoothies and a veggie/fruit tray to show them the yummy fun that can be had by eating this way!
Thanks in advance!

What do you have "on hand"? I would take quacamole or Alissa's zucchini hummus.....make it simple, and my experience is ALWAYS that people usually don't like what I think is good...unless it's simple, and something they are used to eating (like plain veggies) You could make one of Alissa's cheese dips (my DH who is sad loves her Nacho cheese right out of the food processor) and use it as a veggie dip....if we know what you have on hand, we could help you come up with something.
Not to discourage you, I just have learned from experience, don't expect people to love what you love....they don't understand why you don't just make a cheese ball, instead of a raw cheese that is "alot of trouble" (to them it seems) Good luck! AND let us know how it goes!

id adapt this recipe to serve however many..it is SO good..so much better than the SAD version..
Maraw's Chocolate Pudding from The Raw Table:
2 small ripe avocados
1/2 -3/4 C blue agave nectar
1/4 C raw cocao powder (or carob if you prefer)
2 T coconut cream concentrate
1 T alcohol-free vanilla
dash of sea salt
dash of cinnamon (optional)
banana or strawberry slices for garnish
Preparation:
Place everything in a VitaMix or high-power blender or food processor and blend (on high) until very smooth. You may need your temper to move the contents a little so the motor doesn't bog down on you. Most VitaMix blenders come with one.

I second this raw pudding. If you don't have the coconut cream, that can be omitted. It's awesome stuff!

Rawpriestess Brownies (taken off a previous post)
1 cup walnuts
1 cup medjool dates (pitted) not soaked
1/4 cup raw cacao or carob
blend in food processor until it holds together, if it doesn't hold together, blend longer
Press down into the bottom of a 9 X 9 pan, (I use a pyrex) and then pop into the freezer or fridge to set, then cut with a knife, I then place them into a baggy and freeze, so I have them when I want them, many just eat them LOL
hope you like them
you can add nuts on top or frosting if you like
I personally add Rawkinlocs cinnamon roll frosting on top as my choice.

Thank you everyone! I ended up with endless phone calls and then had a business meeting to go to and didn't get back here. Those ideas sound great and I can't wait to try them!
I ended up making Alissa's Easy Apple Pie since I had the ingredients! It turned out pretty good... I didn't love the crust, maybe I will try almonds next time instead of sunflower seeds... and currants instead of raisins. I did get asked for the recipe by a few people though!
The best news is, that I enjoyed the smells from the grill without needing any and didn't cave in to any SAD food!
