okay - can i pick your brains?
My son who is 3 1/2 years old - has these little bumps along his arms; some of them look like zits, sometimes they are clustered... sometimes they are just random bumps here and there.
It says deficiency to me - but i can't figure out what!
Anyone see this before?
(my friends daughter who is 7 has the same thing. But they are mostly cooked and *sometimes* vegetarian)
what do they have in common??

I hate saying this because it can get taken out of context very easily, but it IS a possibility they could have a rash or skin condition from unclean environment, (?) I tried to talk about this with a girl I grew up with. She had depression & never thought twice about things piling up to her door. The dermatologist said it was indeed just that.
Just mentioning a possibility.
Also, my husband has always had what I called "heat bits". I always thought it could be a heat rash. Sometimes I wonder if he has wheat sensitivity, like me though.

I think I know what kind of bumps your are talking about. They sometimes look white and appear on the back of the arms. I think it is some sort of deficiency. I can't remember which one, but the ones that come up in my mind are: Vitamin C, A or D.

I had the little bumps. Almost like tiny zits. Had a harder, white substance inside. My health coach said fatty acid deficiency.

You are probally talking about Keratosis Pilaris. I used to have it until I cut out grains, dairy and meat, cooked of course. It's just "waste" that your body is trying to push out of your skin. All cooked high protein foods cause it. All of those cooked proteins end up in the lymph and skin when we have too many of them circulating in our system. My daughter has it. She doesn't eat dairy because she is allergic, but our "well intentioned" family feed her everything else.

"If your skin is prone to goosebump sized acne (check the back of your upper arms), you have a Vitamin A, EFA, zinc deficiencies, and a very low metabolism."
maybe?
my second thought was food/environmental allergy.

I agree that it would be a deficiency. We already know that he is allergic to gluten, so he stays away from that. We havn't had animal products in over two years, so it's not that.
And - i am pretty sure he does not have a low metabolism:rolleyes: that boy will eat FOUR large bowls of salad and still be hungry!! no joke - he eats more salad than me, and is only 3 1/2!!!
So what do i do about the vit A, EFA and zinc? i put flax/hemp seed oil on his salad, and he loves to chomp huge carrots....
what else can i be doing?
**thanks for all the responses by the way!

zinc:
button mushrooms
poppy seeds
coconut
dates
cocoa
most nuts (dunno where a 3.5 year old would stand on nut intake, though)
and then basically all other raw foods have a small amount lol

I have these little things on my upper arms as well and so has my mum and all my younger sisters. I've always thought that it was something I had to live with, like bad genes or something :p It gets better in the summer time when we get lots of sun so if there is a deficiency it seems as if it should be D?

Most people take cod liver oil for the efa's and vit. A and D for this, but since that's not allowed on here...
I know I've heard vitamin A for sure. I've also read that it is the bodies way of detoxing excess sugars.
I have it as well - Oil Pulling has really helped me - and yes, it is Keratosis Pilaris you are talking about. For abbundance of info go to www.keratosipilaris.org
It is most likely an allergy or something of the like. I am getting a food-testing tomorrow to see if I am allergic to anything:)

The dots on the backs of the upper arms is an omega-3 fatty acid deficiency i think.
Maybe this is related to that?
Could he possibly drink walnut milk?

Little kids also don't usually sweat as much as adults and heat can cause a kind of bumps that looks suspiciously like the keratosis pilori thing. Sometimes they just stay clear. I have seen kids who lay on the carpet playing trains and cars get this - and more often and first on the arms. Sometimes laying in the grass so I thought perhaps carpet chemicals (eroding synthetics) and possibly lawn chemicals used by the landscapers could contribute.
