Does anyone have a recipe for curried kofta balls? I have only had them once, but they were so-o-o-o-o-oo- yummy and the sauce was reddish-brown and so rich and spicy.. and the kofta were fluffy and moist.

any ideas??

Thanks!!!

Beckla, I love your "quote"..."it's not a diet, it's my lifestyle". Once I had this argument last month with DH (he thought I was on a "diet")...and it just clicked for me. I want RAW as a lifestyle...not a diet, and now I'm more committed....I guess since I had to "fight" for it, now I'll stand for it!
I can't wait for the recipe.

I agree, but, and I can't remember which show (Rawkin Radio) where Alissa and Revvell talk about the word DIET? A diet is simply, basically what you eat. But SAD eaters and WMD (World [gone] Mad Diet - or weapons of mass destruction - can apply to food too), but SAD eaters have coined the phrase to mean a temporary fix.

Definition: food and drink considered in terms of its qualities, composition, and its effects on health.

I eat a raw diet. I live a raw lifestyle.

Sorry it took so long - here is the recipe:

Curried Kofta Balls in Cashew Tomato Curry Sauce
By Michael Adi
Serves 8

For the balls:
3 c sunflower seeds, soaked & sprouted
1 c almonds, soaked and peeled
handful fresh parsley
handful fresh cilantro
2 tsp curry powder
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cayenne
1 zucchini
4 cloves garlic
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp corriander
1 inch piece fresh ginger
pinch nutmeg
1 tsp honey

For sauce:
1 c sundried tomatoes, soaked 2 hours (reserve water)
2-3 plum tomatoes
1/2 zucchini
1 c cashews
1 tsp. curry powder
1/3 tsp. cayenne
3 cloves garlic
1/2 tsp. paprika
handful of fresh cilantro, plus extra for garnish
1/2 tsp. sea salt
2 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. lime juice

Directions:
Process the kofta ball ingredients in food processor. Form into medium-sized balls and dehydrate for 2-3 hrs on each side at 110.

Combine curry sauce ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth, adding just enough soak water from the sundried tomatoes for a thick and creamy sauce. Serve over Kofta Balls.

Serve in the traditional Indian way as a soup by placing 2-3 balls in a bowl and filling the bowl with the sauce, or serve as an entree over spriralized zucchini "noodles." Garnish with fresh cilantro.

Oh you're very welcome!

I did try them. Mind you, I have a cheapo dehyrdrator with no temp gauge - so that may have been why... but the balls fell apart.

Didn't matter. I mixed it all up together in a bowl and it was DELIGHTFUL.

ENJOY!

I made these and they were So YUMMY!!!

I did alter it a bit. I wanted to make sure they did not fall apart, and also was trying to make them fluffy :-) so I added water while processing the kofta ball ingredients, and processed it until smooth, and then, in order to get it thick enough to make balls and also to help it stick together, I added some psyllium, just about 3 tsp. or so..maybe a little more, and let it sit to thicken. I made them about golf ball size and dehydrated higher at first, then turned down. It took longer than two hours for them to get how I wanted them, although they were edible after a few hours.

It makes a lot, esp. since it is just me. LOL. I wil be having these for the next couple of days, unless I freeze some.

They are spicy!! hmmmm...I also added a little olive oil to the sauce ..a few teaspoons or so, and also used more honey than it called for.

I think that is about it. If you like Indian food..then these are certainly worth a try!!! Thanks Beckla, for posting it!!!
