I thought since summer is coming, and more salads will likely be eaten..everyone could share their favorite Raw dressings...:D

Also..a couple of weeks ago I had a fabulous tomato-basil salad dressing and want to come up with a raw version..so, if you have any ideas, Please Share!!!

also..if anyone has had the Newmans ginger-soy dressing that McD's serves, do you have any ideas for a Raw version of that???

Here are a couple I found to start...

Basil Vinaigrette

1/2-1 cup olive oil
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup Raw honey
3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
2 cloves garlic, minced
sea salt to tastejust whisk together in a bowl..and enjoy..:D

and....

tomato-basil vinaigrette

1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup balsamic or apple-cider vinegar
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, sliced
1/3 cup pine nuts, chopped
2 tablespoons water
1-2 tsp. honeywhisk together in a bowl and let set in the refrigerator for a few hours.

(I thought of doing this one and blending it all together. The dressing I had was smooth, with no chunks.)

thanks for all your ideas!!!

One of my favorites is tahini, lemon, nama shoyu, red onion, and water. The original recipe calls for olive oil, but I omit it. Deceptively simple, but a complex satisfying flavor.

Elizabeth, I just did a google search for the ginger soy and this is what it gave me:

SOY GINGER DRESSING

2 tbsp. cider vinegar
2 tbsp. soy sauce (use nama shoyu or braggs)
4 tsp. oil
1/2 tsp. sugar (use honey or agave)
1/2 tsp. ground ginger (use a little more, if desired)
1 sm. clove garlic, crushed

My notes are in red. I haven't tried this... I just looked it up for you.

I think you meant Ginger Sesame though so I looked that up as well...

2 cloves garlic -- coarsely chopped
1 T fresh ginger -- coarsely chopped
3 T rice wine vinegar (use apple cider vinegar)
2 T soy sauce (nama shoyu or braggs)
2 t sesame oil
3 t tahini
2 T vegetable oil (use olive/hemp/flax oil)

It did have sesame. I had forgotten. :o It has been a while since I had it. with those sliced almonds..YUMMM... :p I am going to dehydrate some almonds and try to use the ideas you all gave... hmmm..I just LOVED that salad. I would get the little side salad for a buck, it was a good deal.:D But the Raw version will be even better.

Thanks Again, and have a wonderful evening!

Lately, I've been using 1 avo...mashed, add water to thin it out. Then I add spices...basil, dill, garlic, sea salt. All to taste, then mix that around in my salad. No blender needed...just a fork for mashing and mixing. Yummy. Kinda like ranch flavor, and the healthy avo goes right into the salad!

I like my salads sweet, so I just make up a creamy citris dressing by squeezing the juice from 1/2 an orange or a whole lemon and mix it with 1/2 c. soaked cashews, walnuts, pecans or other nut that soaks creamy fast.

Raspberry vinegarette. I posted it on here earlier if you so desire do a search and you will find it. I have used fresh and frozen raspberries and both are great in the recipe

My favorite dressing right now is equal parts of lemon juice and olive oil with some chopped italian parsley and celtic sea salt. It is delicious over a salad of baby spinach, diced red bell peppers, chopped vidalia onion, diced mushrooms, and 1/2 avocado. I mix the salad and dressing together and let it chill in the fridge for about an hour to marinate the spinach.

My entire favorite of all time is a Ranch dressing. It is very authentic tasting.

Here are a couple I converted from sad to raw - my grandmom's.

Vizard Dressing
A tangy dressing that, on a salad of fresh spinach, reminded me of
Russian dressing with a twist last night.

1/4 C tomatoes
6 tsp. apple cider vinegar
2 tsp. nama shoyu
2 tsp. agave nectar or honey
1 clove garlic
1/2 C soaked sundried tomatoes
1/4 C olive oil
dash of sea salt
1 Tbsp. lemon juice

Blend in food processor until smooth and enjoy on salads or as a dip.
Use less acv to make it thicker for dipping veggies.

Sweet and Sour Onion Dressing
1 med. yellow onion
1 tbsp. honey
1 T celery seed (this is key)
2 tsp. dry mustard
3/4 C apple cider vinegar
3/4 C olive oil

Blend in food processor until smooth and enjoy!
