View Full Version : Dried Herbs/Spices - Raw or Schilling Spices

When recipes call for dried herbs/spices: basil, parsely, chives, onion powder

Does that mean these items are purchased as raw or are folks using Schilling spices from the store? I guess if a person grows their own, they could dehydrate the herbs and use. What about cumin, and other spices, are these available raw?

I just want to be clear on these items.

Hey Sactown. I purchase organic herbs such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, etc from my local health food store. I figure I use such a little bit of these, that them being processed isn't going to affect my foods.
Now basil, parsley, sage, herbs like these that I can grow? I do and then actually freeze them if I have too much of an abundance.
