Hello.

We were in the supermarket today
and saw some of my favorite
childhood cold cereal
just staring at me....

Oatmeal just doesn't match
that sugary cold ceraal
like captn crunch
pnut butter cereal

So,
does anyone have a good substitue for
cold cereal please?

It doesn't have to be
the pnut butter kind
however.

Thank you very much,

Wendy

do you have a dehydrator?

Yesh, this raw food thing is getting to me. Can't go into the store and shop for my cooked food eating family without getting tempted and then giving in.

This time, it was captn crunch...ouch....I ate the entire box watcing out of Africa of all things...

Then I ate some bread with all raw fillings while my family ate cooked fillings

I have been eating practically non stop.

Any recipies for fluffy bread or bagels and cold cereal would be nice about now.

Yes, I do have a dehydrator...

I was thinking about getting almond pulp and mixing that with flavoirings and dehydrating it for cereal..has anyone heard of that before?

My fav raw breakfasts are:

Oatmeal (cream of wheat) (need a blender or food processor)

Banana crepes with banana ice cream (need a dehydrator)

and I love smoothies.. Almond milk with fruit or even a green smoothie mmmmmm soo tropical goodness! :D

Wendee, I make a raw granola by sprouting buckwheat for 2 days then mixing it with honey, coconut, grated apple, cinnamon and a bit of almond butter, then I dehydrate it overnight. With almond mylk, it hits the spot. If you dehydrate some berries it will be better than capn' crunch!!

Alissa has a rye bagel recipe in her book that is delish, I have been using it to make bread, but we ain't talkin' light and fluffy here!

Goodbeets, thanks.

I will try that. The berry idea sounds yummie, too.

I have tried the bagel recipie. It was sour and too heavy:mad:

If you have Raw Food, Real World there's a great recipe for buckwheat crispie's that you would usually eat with nut milk in a bowl with maybe some cut up banana's or strawberries but they're so good that I just eat them right out of the dehydrator!

I don't know anything about Captain Crunch, but the first time I tried some Tahini I couldn't help but notice how similar it tasted to peanut butter. Not very surprising, really. :) So if you still want something that takes like peanut butter, add in some Tahini (i.e. ground sesame seeds).

The company that makes the ezekial sprouted breads also have some other products and I believe they have bagels. I know they are not raw but they are a much better alternative than the other kind. I love Alissa's bagels and the buckwheaties from Raw Food Real World.

This is a recipe I'd definitely make (http://aniphyo.com/?page_id=45) by Ani Phyo (one of Alissa's friends, I believe) if I were looking for a cold-cereal crunch.

Buckwheaties or buckwheat crispies are just soaked, sprouted, and dehydrated whole buckwheat groats.

For the bars, you can use any you like; I just looked in Alissa's store and saw she has some new crunch bars that look really good, along with some truffles.

Good luck.

3 Banana's, 2 thumb size chunks of frozen pineapple, 1/4th cup of coconut milk and 2 ice cubes. Blend and pour into a bowl. Sprinkle as much cinnamon on top as you like. ;)
