When I was in college, one of my friends said that if you eat too many bananas you can become constipated. I think he was referring to many bananas in one day. Anyway, I'm just wondering, any truth to the statement?

yes, but only if they aren't ripe (brown spots on the peel)

It does happen to me if I eat them for like 5 days in a row...but other than that I'm OK.

Yes. They are binding. They are used if you have diarrhea to help stop it.

they are not binding at all if you eat them when they are at their peak of ripeness.....meaning no green on them at all....lots and lots of brown spots...
i eat at least one banana meal a day consisting of about 7 bananas....and do not get backed up....its like eating baby food....and so easy on the digestive system...

if they are not ripe....they are all starchy and create hardship on the d system....and gas

Speaking of unripe bananas, I was at the grocery store the other day and I saw this young mother feeding her son a GREEN banana! It was so unripe that the peel was brittle and the kid was just sort of gnawing at it. I mean, I know that the typical American couldn't pick out a ripe avocado if their life depended on it, but come on! Everyone knows that bananas are supposed to be yellow!

Kinda funny story. In my first pregnancy I was eating lots of bananas cause I felt contipated but couldn't go. I thought it would help. When I when to the doctors to tell him my woe he said that was the thing that was making me not be able to go. So yeah I learned that the hard way!

My mom LIKES fairly green bananas, and doesn't like them when they're actually ripe...she eats a banana everyday, but not if it's too ripe for her (aka yellow)!

For me, if I eat bananas that are both very ripe (and spotty like has been mentioned before!) AND blended, I don't have any problems. But if I just sit down and eat a banana or two, I notice a definite slowing down.

Bodies are so interesting!
