View Full Version : Minimizing Detox?

The apparently inevitable detox sounds horrible.
Any way to minimize it without actually defeating the purpose of detox?
I'm 17, and although for my whole life, I didn't eat a lot of meat, and ate lots of fresh produce, I also eat really bad crap on a daily basis, like french fries, Hot Cheetos, & at least 2 candy bars a day.
I don't want a tortuous, years-long detox! But I do want the benefits of going raw.

thevegancat,
There's really no way to know what one will experience and not; it's rather individual as each of us is. Some have no symptoms, as I; and others go through quite a bit; and everything in between.
Don't fear it; embrace it for what it is -- healing. Think positive to breed positivity :)
Some people have advised to begin on a Friday (or other day which precedes a few days off) in order to get through the first few days, which may (or may not) deliver symptoms.
Best of luck, and keep your motivation. You are very lucky to be starting this journey at this stage; many of us wish we had learned how to eat healthfully at your age and sooner.
Best,

I agree with Jaurequi's great post. You WILL experience some detox...at some level....but it will probably be very mild. YOU can control the level of detox you have. Eating heavier raw....heavy combinations...oils.....taking medications and eating cooked foods will all slow.....stop...and potentially reverse detox...and you WANT detox!
-On the other hand....light, simple meals of fruit or fruit juices...and light fasting......sunlight.....light exercise and yoga can all powerfully accellerate detox...which not everyone is ready or willing to undergo. Everyone is different. It's all good!
-Congratulations for your intelligent questions and interest.

Dont be scared!!!:)
It might be quite moderate for you... (GUESSING!!!!)
like headaches, tiredness, skin breaking out a bit out... often its just that you have the symptomes you are dealing with a bit stronger... For example you have a bit skinproblems it will probably turn worse in the beginning before it gets better, when you have an old scar from surgery it might suddenly start to hurt again after not noticing it for years...)
JUST DRINK TOOOOOOONS OF WATER:)

I'm guessing your detox won't be that bad. I ate like crap for 35 years and my detox took the form of either a combination head-cold/flu for 3 days, or allergies for a couple days. That's it. Easy-peasy I thought.
