Standard American Diet
I call it SAD/CRAP - the latter being because that's how I would always feel.

Like she said, but to elaborate further, a diet that primarily consists of cooked food, especially w/ animal products or junk food.

SAD isn’t always McDonalds and Krispy Kreams, LOL!
I had a pretty "healthy" SAD before going raw: No processed foods, very little refined sugar, no dairy, no gluten, no sodas, no HFCS, no fast food, no coffee, no pork, no beef, the list goes on. It was a much better diet than what I grew up eating (I lost a lot of weight), but it still wasn’t great for me.
My problem was cooked food, period.

I tend to just use the phrase "cooked" rather than SAD, simply because not all cooked is SAD. I know many people who are very particular when it comes to nutrition, who are not convinced of the raw way of life - so I don't like to think of their lifestyle as "SAD".

Sis, your diet wasn't SAD! :)
You were eating cooked food, but you were not eating a S.A.D. A SAD is the... "standard" diet, which for MOST Americans, are those very foods you named above...the Mickey D's, the greasy/fried foods, the processed foods, the micro-quick meals, etc.
Many people ate a vegan or vegetarian or macro or just overall "healthy" wholefoods diet prior to going raw but a vast majority of us were ex-TREME SAD'ers (raises hand). :o
I agree Ariannah, not all cooked food is SAD food - it applies to whomever it applies to, though. I DID eat a SAD before raw - others may have just eaten cooked that wasn't the "norm" for most of our society.

Perfect LAG! :D And...it's universal since American isn't the only country who has a "typical, destructive-type" diet such as (what we know as) the S.A.D.

There are a few abbreviations that I am trying to figure out on here. I am pretty smart, but there are a few that are just stumping me.
DH (I know that it is referring to the husband, but what does the d stand for?)
IMO (still can't figure it out and I am using all of my context clues)
BTW (finally figured this one out, by the way)
Are there any other abbreviations I just have to know?

OOOH I think I know something here...
DH most of the time stands for 'dear' husband. However that adjective can vary depending on his residence in the dog house or not! :p
IMO stands for "in my opinion" in my opinion!
Thanks for explaining SAD to me!

Thank you much. Now I can actually say it in my mind while I am reading instead of filling in the blank...
