HI All.
My husband just had major surgery for prostate cancer. Can anyone recommend good juices or smoothies? Thanks so much in advance.

There are many great threads on here to refer to, here is one :D http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=25314 Also we highly recommend Greens for life by Victoria Boutenko and I recommend Juice feasting by Angela Stokes.

Another thing I HIGHLY recommend is wheatgrass. Check out Ann Wigmore's book entitled, "The Wheatgrass Book". It's a very easy, fast read. I read it in a couple of hours. Your local library should have it. She talks extensively about the healing powers of wheatgrass and it's effect on cancer.

I need this too. but am broke. My juicers are not strong enough for the wheatgrass. I choked on it just eating it raw.

There are places that have frozen for delivery (on-line) or even your local HFS may carry frozen or they will if you ask. Frozen is better then nothing.
Wheatgrass is amazing! Wonderful healing stuff.
Also I'd check around to get a juicer. Although, mine (hand-crank) was not that much. I think Revvell mentioned she has some for sale. To me it's worth the cost of forking out some initial cash in order to get healthy.

We are not "designed" to eat the grass, but to drink the juice from it.

We are not "designed" to eat the grass, but to drink the juice from it.Most heathfood stores in my area serve fresh wheat grass juice, I would look /ask around your area I bet there's someone who juices it. A word of caution though, I have often heard "Start out very slowly with wheat grass, in very small amounts, so you dont make yourself sick from it". 1-2 oz a day is plenty for someone new to it.

Yes, that's very true. I suggest checking out Ann Wigmore's book, "The Wheatgrass Book". See if your library has it (am I repeating myself?) But yes, she also says this - start out slow.

My friend's brother had inoperable colin cancer when he was 30-something. (They finally gave him TB or something, which kicked in his immune system.) While he was waiting for the doctor's to come up with something that worked and while everything else was failing, he drank so much carrot juice that he turned orange. His cancer didn't spread while he was waiting. And yes, it all worked. He beat the cancer.
It may not have been just the carrots; it could have been just all that raw produce juice. Wheatgrass will surely work. I am about to start growing it here. You might want to add carrots juice to the wheatgrass juice, while you are becoming acclimated to it.
Good Luck! We cancer survivors are routing for you both.

good luck and best wishes to your husband.
I read that the "brassica" family, which includes cabbage, broccoli, etc., have been shown to ward off cancer in studies, 1/4 cup every single day was all that was required to show the effect. The compounds thought to be especially effective are prevalent in very high concentration in broccoli sprouts, so if you're up to that you could also try sprouting broccoli. I like them myself. If your hubby doesn't like these veggies, you can easily slip cabbage into smoothies without tasting it.
Also, apples juiced with the peels and all are said to ward off cancers, as well as carrots, and various orange things.
I would say to get a good broad spectrum of antioxidants, which can be easily done if you try to represent all colors, blueberries, apples and red cabbage, carrots, and greens too.
When I'm feeling unwell, I like to juice beet-carrot-apple-ginger.

Lycopene with the combination of luteine is very effective:
Tomato+avocado;
tomato+broccoli.
broccoli juiced and the rest blended I guess?

Drink Eight - 8 oz glasses of carrot juice daily - freshly juiced only. This will keep the cancer away and/or help heal cancer. Per Rev. Malkmus (Hallelujah diet)
