I have done the Master Cleanse many times. I am getting ready to cleanse again this time hopefully for 30 days.
I normally use maple syrup but this time I want to use honey. Can anyone tell me what the difference is?
Thanks Seaside

Hi... I've seen info regarding the MC Cleanse and using other sweeteners. Some had concerns with honey, that it spikes the blood sugar too quickly. One of the suggestions I've seen is using agave. It has a much lower glycemic index than honey... honey in the 80 GI and agave in the 15 GI range. For people with Candida, Stevia is suggested as a sweetener.

Stanley Burroughs who wrote a book about MC speaks strongly against honey. So, it is likely you might see mention of that regarding the MC. He was against honey in general. A good grade of maple syrup is said to have additional nutrients.

However, some mention using honey for MC and the incredible health benefits of honey.

Like with many things, there are a variety of views, information. Whatever you decide to do, trust your body... how you're feeling and go with that. Wishing you a great fast! :D

Stanley Burroughs specifically said not to use honey, but maple syrup is recommended. Molasses, Agave and Yacon syrup is ok, too.

This is what I got off Curezone.com:

Raw molasses is one possibility, and that evaporated (raw) sugar cane juice is the best. The book has all the details: Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs (http://healthandlight.com/TheMasterCleanse.pdf)

The point of the "sweetener" isn't really for the "sweet". It's for the minerals in the sweet. This is why the maple syrup needs to be grade C (or, since B is all we can get now, grade B) -- not for the sugar, but for the minerals to be found in the lower grade syrup.

Burroughs would probably not recommend honey at all. As for other syrups... well... again, what you're going for there is the mineral content, not the sugar content. So if you are getting a fruit syrup from fruit grown in soil with excellent mineral content, then you'll probably be OK.

So if possible, get molasses or evaporated sugar cane juice. Use other substances only as a last resort.

Thank you so much for the info.

I think I am going to used B grade maple syrup.
then work my way into a water cleanse.

I will try to post with the fasting bandits.

One more question

How far apart should gallbladder cleanses be?

During my last cleanse I did 2 a week apart. I released sooooo much stuff. Huge stones .... I couldn't believe how toxic my liver/gallbladder must be.
I am 43 and have a liver spot on my face I trust that will go away through cleansing. And is a sign when I am cleansed.

Seasidedaisy... I remember reading something about doing them every six months. Also, that it can be helpful to drink apple juice 5 days before doing a liver, gallbladder cleanse. Of course, you have good experience with this already. Here's a link with more information about doing the flushes.

Would be great to have you join the 'Fasting Bandits' thread! :p

Here's to all the cleansing, clearing you're doing... and radiant health! :D

Thank you Rhazula for listing the link to the master clease. I have heard a lot about it but never knew the details of it. It was nice being able to pull up the PDF. I am now considering doing it.

Thanks again
