I've been looking/reading this site for a couple years now and thought it was time that I officially introduced myself! :p
I'm originally from Eastern Washington. And have lived in the Seattle area for a year now. I currently live about 15 mins. north of Seattle. I love it here!
I've been on and off raw since 2004 and am officially back on - FOR GOOD (lately, I've been about 95% raw)! I've done very well at being 100% raw at times, however there's always been one drawback for me -- and that is not having a dehydrator! As lame as it sounds...I would get to the point where I missed having sprouted bread or organic corn chips - something other than fruit and veggies. And while I've made plenty of raw dishes without a dehydrator (from Alissa's book)--- there were so many more that I wanted to experiment with, but never could.
I'm a college student, so money is scarce. I've never had the option of splurging on items like a dehydrator. My family and boyfriend are very supportive of my raw lifestyle, which I am VERY thankful for! I've even turned them onto it and they've all been eating more raw foods! :D It's funny when I tell my boyfriend about a raw dish I am excited about making because he will give me this funny look (as if he thinks it sounds kind of gross)....yet, when I come home from work the next day I find him finishing off the plate of goodies. ha. And when my brother and his friends came to visit a few weeks ago, I made them the a few dips for their chips -- and they went CRAZY over them! It was fun for me to see them light up as they ate it.
My birthday was earlier this month, and to my surprise my boyfriend ordered me a 9-tray Excalibur dehydrator!!! :D
The dehydrator still hasn't arrived, but it's been shipped and is on it's way!
I'm so excited to recieve it!
I have many reasons for going raw and staying raw - beyond weight loss (however, I will not complain when the weight really starts to fall off). I have Cushing's Disease (had a brain tumor, brain surgery, bilateral adrenalectomy, reconstructive surgery, weight gain/loss, scars etc) and hypothyroidism.
I've already experienced many great effects since going raw -- but I know the real changes are to come as I continue to be 100% raw.
I am going to be taking the Level 1 & 2 classes, hopefully from Rawkinlocs.....she just doesnt know it yet haha (waves to Rawkinlocs)! And what's even better.....is my mom wants to take the Level 1 class WITH ME! I'm beyond excited!!!
Well, now that I wrote a book ....I will end with this! I love these fourms and look forward to contributing and learning all that I can!
