View Full Version : How much fat should we eat in a day?

I have been eating raw now for about 10 months. I love it & will never go back to SAD. I had to increase my fat as I didn't want to lose too much weight. I hear a lot of fat is just not good for our bodies. When I do eat fat, it is nuts, seeds avocados, olives. I don't know what to do. HELP!

Listen to your body. These days I eat two avos a day if they're ripe, along with lots of onions. A few weeks ago I couldn't stand onions. Raw olives and avos can help you lose weight; the lipase breaks down your fat.

I have also been hearing about people eating fruit all day & then eating their fat later in the day. Does anyone do that?

How do you feel?
If you feel less excellent after a lot of fat, eat less. If you feel fabulous, stick with it. If you're still losing weight, try blending your food. It's probably an assimilation issue, not how much or how little fat you're eating.
When I was eating more fruit, I tried to eat fruits during the day & fats and greens at night. I found that this made me hungry and inclined to overeat. I found greater balance having some fat during the day and eating my biggest meal around 3 or 4pm, then having something light in the evening. That was just my experience!

I went through a phase where I was so addicted to avocado that I was eating about 5 a day. Then suddenly I did not even want to look at any:rolleyes: for about a month. My body was craving a lot of fruit and greens and now I have started to eat an avo a day. I feel better when I just give my body whatever it wants and not what I believe I am "supposed" to do:)

Myself, I don't make an effort to eat or not eat fats. I just think in terms of "food" I may want an apple,cucumber or celery. I find that when I go by what I truly want to eat, I feel balanced.

Just curious!! Did you loose or gain weight when you ate so many avos?

i gained a little I think. It was when I was making the transition right at the start and I was eating SO much Raw food in order to compensate for my SAD cravings. :rolleyes:

I don't think there is one answer that applies to everyone. I can't personally eat a lot of fat but I do need some. I do have medical conditons and with one of them, if I eat too much fat I get sick. I don't like getting sick. I used to think I was getting food poisioning from the olives I got at a local olive bar. Then I realized it was probably not that at all but eating too much fat at once. I loved the olives so much I was scarfing down the whole container in one or two sittings. :eek:
