View Full Version : Papaya Seed use?

My 1st papaya. Not too sweet. Beautiful seeds already sprouting. I have seen use as dressing on-line with exotic expensive or SAD ingredients. Anyone have use that is raw and not expensive?

I read somewhere that folks dry the seeds and then grind them for a pepper-like flavor. Dunno...

You know, it is very strange. I searched it on here before posting and saw nothing. I posted my question. I searched again and saw a post by fiddler so I wrote and asked the moderator to delete this thread as it is a duplicate but the thread is still here. Sorry anyone who reads this. If there is a way for me to have deleted it myself I could not figure it out.

i've dried the seeds and made pepper..but its papaya -y tasting. Wasn't too fond of if, but then again, I'm not a huge papaya fan either.

I never cared for papaya or mango before, but love both of them now. I use mangos in my green smoothies and the banana/papaya pudding is awesome - Alissa's.
I can't deal with the seeds though. Sorry. They remind me of fish eggs. BIG fish eggs. I had a hard time touching them the first time I got a papaya and cut it open. I said out loud, "EWWWW!":o

After reading the other post with myriad answers from not fit for humans to various uses - I am not so energetic now so I threw them outside where I leave food for the birds. They have not touched those papaya seeds but they have eaten everything else.

Papaya seeds can be ingested to clean your colon -- they act like a broom (but do not eat more than a tablespoon or two).

How fast was it? I mean how long did it take those seeds to sprout?

When I cut open the papaya they were sprouting.
