Why is it when I drink green smoothies and nothing else to eat or drink but that, I get REALLY nauseated?
I thought this was supposed to be good for me?

Are you rotating your greens every week or so? One week spinach, then the next kale, the next something else. Are you using too much in your smoothie? Try cutting way back on the amount and then add more every week. When I first started green smoothies - I was using way too much kale and not enough fruit and water and I got an upset stomach too.

well, I was told that one isn't supposed to mix fruit with veggies?
so I just blended a little water with a bunch of greens each time.
thanks,

I guess that's part of the food combining which is correct - you shouldn't eat fruit with anything else - but I figure since it's all blended to a liquid it will digest about the same time, anyway I have no problems with it.

The vegetables that don't combine with fruits are the root and flower vegetables like carrots, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. Leafy greens mix quite well with fruit. At least that is what I understand from reading Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko. She talks about that very subject in her book.
I would first check that you are rotating your greens, or getting a large variety of greens in your smoothie first, then check the quality of them. Maybe they are bad?
From what I understand, if you have too much of the same greens over a period, they become mildly toxic. I have been making the same green smoothie daily for lunch for a month with no problems. I use a mix of greens including spinach, parsley, coleslaw mix, and baby spring mix. The coleslaw mix is just green and red cabbage with some sliveres of carrots. The baby spring mix contains a big assortment of lettuces and greens including red romaine, tango, lolla rosa, arugula, red leaf, green romaine, little gem, mizuna, tat soi, green chard, red chard, red mustard, red oak, green oak, raddichio. I get both mixes from the store, pre-mixed, organic.

Do you think that some people just can't drink smoothies? I get sick to my stomach when I try to drink smoothies either fruit or a combination of fruit/greens. I can drink juices, but not smoothies.

My experience:
-I was never a fan of green smoothies or juices. Why force yourself to consume something that nauseates you? Stick with the fruits and vegetables that you love. Just my opinion.
