Anyone use walking poles? I just read about them in an article in Womans World and they are supposed to be really helpful on knees, etc but give great walking workouts. I bought a pair on ebay and I am still confused on how to use them LOL So I was wondering if anyone else has them?

Do you mean trekking poles? If so, I use them reguarly hiking. Although you wouldn't want to use them on concrete.

I guess they could be called either. Yes, I suppose that is what they are. These people did use them on concrete, just regular walking but they have different "feet" so I wonder if that is what helps. How do you use yours?

I've seen a number of people in our community out walking with these, and they sure have a fast pace too! They are on the sidewalk which is concrete.

I'm thinking of getting some also but would like to try a pair out to see how it feels. I'll be curious what others post about this topic!

Aha! Okay, there must be some special footing for the metal part (otherwise they might break). I owned mine for years before I actually used them. And boy, did I quickly find out what I had been missing. :)
They really help my knees going uphill and down (especially with a pack). I take them hiking and climbing and just adjust them shorter for uphill and longer for downhill. They also work in the snow with a special "footing" attachment.
