I kinda asked this in another thread - but it wasn't the point of the thread so i thought i would ask it separately.

I am almost 100%, and dh is about 75%. We are both vegan. He eats cooked at work. Like, toast and hummus (not raw) or a big stir fry noodle plate. (w/fresh steamed veggies)..... not the worst choice.... but -

he has cooked breath. You know what i mean? It's like - whooo!, what did you eat?? It isn't horrible... but it does bother me. I am also pregnant and already sensitive to smells- so it isn't helping.

Does anyone else experience this? I can imagine it would be worse w/ a partner who is all SAD - but either way - what do you do? say?

I love him to peices and don't want to hurt his feelings. He probobly wouldn't be hurt - more embarassed - and he also wouldn't know what to do about it.

oh man... i am at a loss! :o

I notice this when I am 100%. Even my kids have terrible breath. It is like a metalic sick type of breath.

I don't notice it when I am eating any cooked foods. Weird!!

So you are not alone in this.

One thing for me, is I don't say anything. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I just do my best when I am close to them...to try and breathe.:p

I would openly talk to him. Let him know you are sensitive to this. If he doesn't know, how can he rectify it? I believe in telling folks like it is. It's all about HOW you approach someone.

I had two out of five pregnanacies (not raw) where I was hyper sensitive to smell.
In one instance I would smell greasy foods cook even blocks away and puke while walking down the street.

When consistently RAw for a period of time my smell is heightened at night while sleep so much so that even good stuff in the deydrator overnight is a bit overwhelming... come to think of it, it's the non raw Braggs smell that was irritating.

Hmmm strike three for Braggs:(

I've only been 75% raw for 3 days now, and in class last night I sat next to someone who just reeked of medicine or something really unnatural!! I have never smelled anything like it before - it was really terrible! I chalked it up to healing my sense of smell because usually my nose doesn't work that well! :)
I've been mostly vegan since January of this year... Then off & on raw since last month....

I've noticed this too, i've been about 100% raw for a couple months now and my fiance's breath drives me nuts. I try to add mint leaves or parsley to his "cooked" food sometimes and it helps.

I've also noticed that I am EXTREMELY sensitive to perfumes too. I was in bed bath and beyond the other weekend and the fake flowers and perfumes gave me a massive headache and itchy nose. I imagine before I was raw I doubt I would even be able to smell it at all.

I have found my senses when I first went 100% raw were heightened. I mean intensely heightened. The sky was bluer, the grass and green, but after 10 months now, that has settled back down. I think it's normal for everything to "sharpen". Our body is doing what it is supposed to be doing.

When I was pregnant w/ my daughter, I would throw up in the shower from the smell of soap - very very heightened sense of smell. My husband and i were not raw and his breath bothered me very much - especially if he had a sore throat or had not had enough water. He chewed on cloves - the smell didn't bother me and it helped a lot.

His breath is odorless now - the only time it smells at all is in morning and it's not that bad! :) We're about 90% raw.

Good luck, sweetie! Pregnancy can be rough - it's the prolactin levels increasing that makes your nose so powerful... Hang in there.

You hubby's breath and body smells may be helped with chlorophyll, at least until your sense of smell gets back to what it was.

Hope you feel better soon!

Be well.

Chewed on cloves?! The only time I put cloves in my mouth, not counting something made with cloves, is when a tooth hurts.
