 Okay - i'm going to make flax crackers - and yes I've heard that when you soak flax seed - it oozes goooey stuff. Well, I soaked the flax overnight - I 'tried' to drain it - but it's so gooey it won't completely drain  ! Is that normal?? I even tried to drain it on a paper towel -- HUGE MISTAKE!! it all stuck to the paper towel and I had to scrape it off with a spoon!! :( I'm making a mess here!! Do I just put the flax seed goopey gooey stuff and all in the food processer or am I supposed to keep rinsing the flax until it's less gooey??? :o help!!
Did the recipe say to soak the flax?

Perfectly normal! Most times the seeds absorb so much of the water that there is no need to drain them. The only time I drain is if there is a lot of "loose" water on top of the gooey flax seeds. Otherwise, you don't want them "too" dry. It's the goo that binds the crackers. It's fine! :)
Just put the flax seeds in the processor with the other ingredients and don't expect them to become broken up because they won't...the crackers will be whole seed crackers and processing will basically be to mix the ingredients up. Then, you'll just spread that on your teflex sheets. A little tip: I often have a little bowl of water next to me as I'm spreading so that I can dip my "spreading hand" into the water every-so-often to aid with spreading the mixture more evenly and it helps keep the mixture from sticking to my hand and preventing even spreading. Even if I spread with the back of a large spoon, I still dip into water to help wtih spreading.

Rawkinlocs - thank you - thankyou :D !! I thought I had just wasted all these beautiful little flax seeds! Now I will finish the recipe in Alissa's book and my husband will never know of my fiasco with goopy flax seeds sticking everywhere! I'll just act like a pro when I let him taste it! ;) !!

The scientific word for what flax does/is is one of my favorite words of all time: mucilaginous. And it's sooo good for you. :-)
