Hi All,

I read the chapter in Alissa's book on Detox, which was great, but I am also wondering if anyone here would share their detox symtoms with me. From what I have read so far here in various people's posts, some experience mild headaches, some experience severe diarrhea, and vomiting. I've been 100% raw for 5 days, and have been nauseaous on and off, my skin is breaking out a bit, and I feel kind of achy. I'm sure it is detox, but I am just wanting a sampling of what other's experience. Thanks! :)

I was very nausiated the first couple days. Then I came down with a cold BIG TIME. I think I got a virus, but I think maybe it has mixed with detox. It's been going on 2 weeks! It's got to be over soon. I can't wait for that!:(

tired in the afternoon/evenings.... cloudy mind, swollen glands in my throat, back pain revisted randomly....bouts of irritability and anger:o .......

occasional headaches... not too bad though....

I heard Victoria Boutenko say that hard detox is a sign of not enough fiber.... but i don't know how valid that is...

headaches
aching muscles
minor rashs (after taking a shower... lasting only five minutes and mostely very itchy)
itchy, tearing eyes
and old inflammation that flares up
hurting back
less clear skin
VERY dry skin that peels off completely
pressure on the ears

that sounds worse than it is... all those are not a bigger problemfor me... Instead I allways struggle very hard with emotional detox... THAT IS REALLY REALLY HARD I think

like
cloudy mind
depression
hypersensibility to noises
hypersensibility to any emotional things
major impatience
weird dreams

Thanks all, that is very helpful. I hope your cold goes away soon, Pennypower....drink lots of water, and take comfort in knowing that your body is throwing out lots of junk in that mucous. One of my teachers talks about how all colds, flus and bronchitis's, etc, are your body "cleaning house" and how the antibiotics that so many people take put such a toxic load on the body, that it stops its cleansing process, which, is why people feel better afterward, but they are actually "sicker" than when they had the symptoms.

Herbs, however, don't work like that. The herbs I give my patients actually help them detox quicker....yay. If you want some free herbal recommendation, just let me know.

btw, I think you all are amazing to choose this path...it isn't easy in our society. Thanks for being an inspiration.

My first detox symptoms were similar to a cold. I had sinuses that alternated from stuffy to runny, and I could feel something moving around in the sinus cavities in my head like I had a head cold. My eyes turned pink, puffy and watery, and I had a mild fever. These symptoms lasted 2 days, then on the 3rd day I woke up feeling great. I could have just gotten a cold, or it was detox. One thing to note was that after this detox, my Spring allergies did not affect me at all this year. Not one tiny bit.

I did not have any more symptoms until very recently when I switched to a 90-100% raw diet about a week and a half ago. The first thing I noticed was my allergies were back with a vengeance. I was sneezing all over the place. I also was more irritable. What was interesting was that I did not notice this irritability, and did not really display it, but people around me said I seemed really ticked off about something.

I feel great today however, no allergy symptoms yet. I need to wait a while to see if they have gone away again though. I hope so. I felt great not dealing with them there for a few weeks. I am normally bothered by sneezing fits several time daily this time of year.

I get VERY VERY sleepy, tired, like I have taken sleeping pills or something. My body seems to become like a rag doll. Then I can sleep for so long. This usually happens during a juice fast. It's werid. I will get sorta lightheaded along with all this I get a huge peaceful feeling, like all is well...then I can just drift off to sleep....very relaxing feeling, but NOT good when you have to work, LOL>

When I detoxed I had:

Dry skin

Acne breakouts

I was cranky during periods of hunger.

I also felt WONDERFUL. High as a bird, floating on air, really like could do cartwheels type energy

I felt fresh, clean and full of life.

I noticed my mood was more refreshed :)

My skin ulcerated, messages written on my abs, head spinning, spewing pea soup, & yelling demonic remarks!!!:p

Okay But It FELT LIKE that, & I Dare anyone to Watch Exorcist & not relate detox w/ that moment!!!!;)

1st (oct-NOV 05) time I got flippin mental, for no good reason I'd go off.

This last time (Mar-APR 07)tired, blemishes, headaches, sometimes uncontrollable cravings (sometimes for stuff I didn't even eat during SAD). I have found the next 30days more of a challenge then the 1st. No anger issues, but I have been really tired. The rashes are fading as well. My weight loss stopped not ^ or down so who knows

I had a slight pain under the righ side of my occiput and muscle twitching under my Right eye last night. I must confess I ate something cooked shortly after and lo and behold the twitching stopped. I was craving KFC yesterday, so I think I was detoxing from MSG. The first few days of 100% I had ache joints and low back pain. I notice different detox symptoms depending on what I eat. If I eat a cleansing salad with cabbage and lemon juice, I start clearing mucus. Lately I've been eating a lot more , especially nuts and seeds and I have endless energy.

Funny, all of your detox symptoms sound like my EVERYDAY LIFE before going raw. I hear about emotional detox, but I don't know how much worse it could be for me emotionally than when I was on SAD. Lets hope I don't find out.:o :o :o :o

Thanks...very informative....doesn't sound like much fun, but, better than the alternative! I am finding that my detox symptoms seem to change every couple hours and overall they are pretty mild....certainly no demonic possession...yet. I do notice odd things, like, my vision was very very clear yesterday, and tonight I feel like I have a film over my eyes.

Do you all find that you tend to detox in "layers?" Like things will come up, and go away, and then other things will come up and go away? If so, how long does this seem to last?

The first week that I was 100% raw (after 1 1/2 months at 95% and about 5 years at about 50% raw before I knew about raw), I slept two nights for 11 1/2 hours; after 1 1/2 - 2 weeks I got a huge rash on both legs; after the 3rd week I got a horrific neck ache, which disappeared pretty fast. I was using the sauna almost daily when I got the rash and neck ache. I am now in my 6th week of 100%, and things are so far quiet, but who knows what else may arrive. It's worth it!!! ;)

When I was in the 95% raw period I remember being very crabby for a couple days. I've been so happy since then, I forgot it!

:p I may sound pretty weird! But I LIKE detox...(except emo-detoy is not my favourite... can kick me off the wagon)
I like to feel the process how my body heals itself! Of course its good to know about what happenes and I never experienced it so strong that I dunno... that I thought I cant stand it...
But somehow I want to feel the progress! If I wouldnt notice anything a point of motivation would be away:rolleyes:

:D Anyone else who likes pain?
