I know this might be the most stupid question...
BUT: what exactly is the here allways named "green smoothie"..
Is it just like freh pressed juice: So that you extract the fruits/ greens and have left masses of very dry rest that you throw away
Or are the whole foods in the smoothie?
And what can all be in a smoothie? And with what kind of machine do you make it?
I just wonder because I'd like to drink some too... But I can not buy 3 kilo oranges to get one glass of juice;) And so far I only have a common "mixer"(is that a blender? )
HELP HELP... coz the smoothie is named so often!

A green smoothie is simply water, greens (spinach, kale, lettuce, whatever you choose), and any fruit you desire. Blended in a blender.
Juice is extracting the juice from various fruits/veggies and not having any of the fiber. And ending up with the pulp.

They are a blended smoothie of fruits, vegetables and some liquid. I like mine with a few baby carrots, a couple stalks celery, a few broccoli florets with most of the stem removed, and then a couple handfuls of assorted greens. Then fill about halfway with water and blend until it is mixed up. Then chop up 3 fruit (I like pear, apple and banana) and blend that in as well. It will be green in color, but have a sweet fruitiness with a slightly crisp edge from the veggies. They are super good and good for you. Some people prefer theirs with more or less fruit, and some people use another liquid instead of water, like say vegetable or fruit juice.

Ahhhhhh, I love green smoothies and yes, until I read the book Green for Life did I really know what they were either...
I use a regular blender, cut the pieces of veggies and fruit up into pieces that the blender can handle,....an easy one to start with is one apple, one cucumber and a few stalks of celery....from there...you can decide what you like, I find that I now eat veggies I'd never thought of trying before....any and everything green...some people start with more fruit then greens , for me, mine are mostly green with one fruit...any kind of fruit...
I have a Vitamix blender on order yet my old blender, 40 years old works good, too....
Sometimes I add ground flax seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds...sometimes all 3 together, other times just one....I sorta like the crunchy pieces in the smoothie.
I hope you try it...that's what we all rave about.
I take 32 ounces to work and nurse it all morning...ummmmm, so good!
Oh, sometimes I add ginger, cayenne, lemon juice...whatever is around goes in.
