Hi, everyone. My name's Eileen (obviously). I'm 33, married and live in Buffalo, NY. I have been reading the forums on and off for a while now, and actually have Alissa's book.

The reason I named my intro thread "Long Road Ahead," is because I've made the decision to finally go raw. I have several illnesses - rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral neuropathy and IBS, namely, and recently, have begun exhibiting symptoms of MS. I am at my wits' end, and medication does NOT seem to help me. My husband and I want to try to have a baby, and most meds prescribed for these diseases cannot be taken when pregnant. I've been off most everything except prednisone and LorTab, neither of which I have any desire to continue taking for the long haul.

The more I've researched and read, the more sense going raw makes to me. I've heard so many stories of people who've arrested or reversed similar autoimmune and neurological conditions just by changing their diet. And I'm ready to make that change. So, here I am - and hello!

Eileen - welcome!
Awwww, don't look at it as a long road ahead - you are setting yourself up for too hard of a journey. You will be amazed as to how well you will feel if you commit to 100% raw. I know the jury is out when it comes to diving in 100% or going slower. I dove. I was at my wit's end w/my migraines. They were debilitating. They are now cured. It's been only 10 months. Also my dead thyroid is now alive and functioning.
Raw food IS healing. Why wouldn't it be?
This is where you are going to find a lot of your questions answered.
Again - welcome!

Thank you all for the welcome.

Linda, I grew up in Attica - so I know Darien very well. I even worked at Darien Lake as a teenager! Small world!

Howdy! Welcome to the board. My mom has/had many of the symptoms u mention including RA. When she does green smoothies & does mid-high raw she doesn't suffer from any of it. Look forward to traveling w/ya and really its not a long road, your already on it and didn't even know it.
