Does anyone else feel bloated after eating dried fruit? Dates are the only dried fruit that don't make me feel heavy. Are dates dried? Is that a silly quesition?

dried fruit definitely has this affect on me. I also find them to be constipating. Throw in some nuts into the mix and I'm like a balloon!
Dates are not usually dried.

I know that feeling too...
It might help to soak them overnight! And not to eat to much at the time!

The only way I can digest dried fruit without feeling heavy, is if I rehydrate the fruit first.

Can't you just chew them to make them pass easier?:D
Sorry, I think it is a temporary detox thing for me. My attitude has been way off kilter the last 48 hours. I have went from about 70-85 percent raw to 90%+. I blame it all on detox. Even this post. Even my lame excuse. Everything!:p

they definitely don't digest well for me at all, especially mixed with nuts (nuts do it to me too on their own), so i only have the pie crusts and other "special" recipes once in awhile.
however, in the winter, i find my body craves dried fruits and nuts more, as an instinctual sort of hunter- gatherer thing, which completely makes sense. I gain a bit more weight and feel heavier and less energetic, but it seems to fit into the primal lifestyle of winter living in a colder climate, so I understand it and therefore don't fret too much.
on that note, i'm very glad spring is here and lighter foods are what i consume now, i feel more cleansed!

Thanks for bringing this up...I've definately noticed the serious bloat after eating dried fruit with nuts. I, too, have an easier time digesting dates, which makes sense...I am a Chinese Herbalist, and dates are actually used in small amounts as an ingredient in some herbal formulas to help warm and tonify the digestion.

How long have you been raw ???? Within the first 2-4 weeks of being Raw I would go REALLY light on dried fruits and nuts Bloat is common in the beginning especially with dried fruit. Give your body a little more time to adjust, take it from someone who WAS bloated:( :D
I notice some dried fruit has sulphites on it - would that make a difference to tolerance??
