Hello everyone! Newbie to the group here. What is the most important appliance to purchase first? Juicer, Food Processor or Dehydrator? Thank you!

Personally - i think juicer first!! Juice is best. Then food processor, then dehydrator.
Or - you could get a vitamix immediatly.... It can work as a juicer and a processor.....
I know you can get a processor at goodwill or other thrift stores really cheap....

It really depends on how you personally intend to "do raw". For example - some folks "do" raw by simply eating...simply - no equipment - just fresh whole fruit and veggies and perhaps a good knife.
If you intend to do a LOT of juicing, then get a juicer or as shalom said, a Vitamix as you can blend fruits, veggies or both and either drink with the fiber in or strain with something like a nutmilk/sprouting bag to just get the juice only. Otherwise, a juicer is not important unless you intend to do a lot of juicing, which many don't unless doing a juice fast/feast.
If you intend on doing raw recipes, then I'd say a food processor first as you can do a lot with it in terms of making stuff like fruit sorbet, ice cream from bananas, etc., nut pate's, sauces, dips, etc. A dehydrator can come last on the list because it's good to have, but not necessary unless you want to be able to have a HUGE variety of things to make such as crackers, flat breads, cookies, dry your own tomatoes and sweet fruits, make fruit leather, etc, etc.
But other than fruit leather and crackers/breads even a lot of the recipes that call for a dehydrator can still be eaten without. For example, a nut "burger" that is dehdyrated for the "burger" texture can be simply eaten rolled up in a green leaf as a pate' or cookies can be made into balls and rolled in shredded coconut or just formed and refrigerated for refrigerator cookies.
So again, it really boils down to how YOU, personally, intend to "do" raw!

I have been eating Raw for about 2 months now. I have all of them and the two i use the most of is the processor and the blender which u already probably have. I have not used my juicer yet. I prefer the blender to make smoothies so that i get all the fiber from the fruit and greens. I wanted the juicer for something. Just dont remember what and at the time i ran into a good deal so that is why i have it.
Like others mentioned. It depends on what u want to eat/drink. I have some great cookies that i dehydrated but u dont have to. They were just as good before as they r after. :D

food processor is my vote. it allows me to whip up different veggie dips, dressing, dessert fillings, puddings, brownies, etc etc etc quickly and more easily than in a blender (less clean-up, too)
do you have a blender already? id probably put blender before food processor..for smoothies..and you could if needed make the above recipes in the blender. youd just have to fight with it a bit.

I have a hand blender which I use every day for soups, puddings, cookies and smoothies and it is very adaptable as it can be used in any size utensil so if you are doing a large batch you just use a very large container. I use a juicer quite a lot too as I love celery but dislike the fibre and a dehydrator which is used a couple of times a week.

I do not have a juicer or dehydrator. I have a food processor, blender and a spice grinder. I have been over 70% raw for 4 weeks. I use the blender and spice grinder the most. My next purchase will either be a professional blender or a dehydrator.

I'd definitely go with either the food processor or blender.
I like smoothies, so I am glad to have my blender.
However, if you think you will be eating more nut pates and "recipe" food, you'll want the food processor.
I saw a gadget in the store yesterday that has a base/motor and then allows you to use a food processor container or a blender jar/pitcher. Nice combo for a newbie! however, i'd check the power on something like that before purchasing. the size of it looked like it was most suitable for one or two people. Handy though!
If you live alone and will be making single servings, esp. if you are on a budget, you can sneak by with one of those mini choppers. It will make things more time consuming, and you will have to reduce the proportions in recipes. but it works, and it only costs around $35.
I see decent food processors on Craigslist and Ebay all the time.
I love having a dehydrator, it allows me to make some fun creative stuff, but it's a luxury item. ;)

I use the Vita-Mix every day and the spiralizer around once a week. If I had a dehydrator, I might use it once a month; I might buy a lot of jalapeņos and dry them. Before the Vita-Mix I used a potato masher to mash fruit.

Hello there,
Assuming that you already have a blener, I think the food processor should be first, and it's also the cheapest! You can frequently get them used at thirft stores even. A lot of raw fooders loose interest in juicing after a little while, it is very time consuming and labor intensive. But you can do a lot with a blender and food processor.
All the best,
Audrey

There are so many things you can do with a Vita-Mix. You can Puree, you can make Chunks. It also depends on how much you want to spend. You can buy a Juicer and Food Processor and have money left over to buy Food for a Month for what you spend on a Vita-Mix......But I would BUY it.

Juicer/blender. I really like being able to juice my citrus and leave the pith on. (Has lots of vit C and complements) Also the pith helps make the drink creamier. I use the juice from the juicer to blend the rest of the ingredients in the blender. (instead of water) (Most popular drink in my house is juiced oranges blended with banana.) I think I am getting more nutrition. (?)
I only have a juicer that i use every now and then for a good detox.
I am happy with my knives chop, chop, chopping away.:D
I guess it depends what suits u. I've been raw for a few yrs now and it suits me fine;)

I bought a juicer and wish I would have bought a foodprocessor first. All I can do is juice and juicing is really expensive right now. I really like all the juice I made so far, but it is not as filling as things I could make if I had a food processor. I was going to do a juice fast, but I read it is best to wait until you have been raw awhile to make detox easier. This summer I plan to juice, juice, juice!

Thank you all for your replies! Everyone is so helpful. This is new for me, as surely it was for each of you at some point so everyone's input was extremely helpful. Since I already have a blender as well as a mini-processor, I opted for a Green Star juicer as I think I will need to be doing more green juice and keeping it simple food wise for a while. I purchased the Green Star3000 and got a wonderful price from VitalityPlus for under $390 including shipping and handling.
I'm looking forward to trying the 30 day challenge next.
Thank you again everyone who replied.

I think that depends on what you want to do and how you want to eat. I don't own a juicer and can't see the need for me ever to have one. I do own a blender. It's really old and I never use it. I do sometimes use my hand blender for sauces and things. Not often. I use my food processor pretty often. I never thought I'd need one of those either. But I found it very useful for chopping or slicing a lot of veggies at once and I need it for making things like nut cheese. I also have sprouters that I tend to use more often during the winter months than any other time. And I have a dehydrator that I use sporadically. Seems I will get into a kick of wanting to use it then get burned out on those foods and I won't use it for a long time.
It is possible to get by without those things though if you want to eat a diet of whole foods like nuts and seeds with plain fruits and vegetables. That's mainly what I prefer. I am not a sweets person and don't care for salad dressing.

I would get a food processor first...then I would get a coffee grinder for grinding nuts for nut butter or seeds into "powder" .... then the rest is up to you...what do you see yourself making the most? Look at the recipes. What appeals to you, then go from there. I personally used a small dehydrator (round one with temp. control) until I knew RAW was something I wanted to do long term, and when I could afford an Excaliber, I bought one. Next, I bought a small juicer from a friend and used it until I KNEW I LOVED juicing...now I own an Omega 8005, which I LOVE! These were my choices. I recommend going with what you can afford, or CHEAPER, until you see what YOU really like!
First of all, don't get too overwhelmed with recipes....just eat RAW naturally!!
Welcome!
