I can't believe I am saying this but....I may just embark on a juice feast/fast. I am not particularly fond of fasts, I do believe they are hugely beneficial, though I prefer the slower route, lol. Until now....
My family is transitioning to high raw, and I have already been high/100% raw for a few weeks. But, after reading many of the fasting threads, I am considering the 92 day juice feast. My question is, has anyone done it while dealing with Candidia? Cured it? I am dealing with Candidia and Lyme Disease right now, and am on meds for both. I really believe that the raw lifestyle will help me heal from both, but I want the extra 'insurance', if that makes sense.
My other question is, the juice feast, is that just juice, or is it smoothies too?
TIA for any help! :D

im juice feasting right now. im on day 5. i have/had(?) severe candida overgrowth. for now im sticking mainly to green juices, and i added tomato juice yesterday to see how my body responds (sugary veggies and all fruits used to really aggravate my symptoms). so far, so good, though. i hope to try to introduce grapefruit juice and sour apple juice by the end of the week.

To answer your second question (I´ve never suffered from candida so i cant answer your first), a juicefeast is all juices, no smoothies. It contains no fiber, so the body is given a well deserved rest. I am also doing a juice feast this very moment and it is going great so far!

Are you going to do the enemas as outlined in Angela Stokes E-Book “The Juice Feaster’s Handbook (http://www.rawreform.com/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,34/category_id,6/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,55/)”? That’s one part of the program I just couldn’t get diggy with.

Hey Domestic Goddess!

Congratulations on your decision to embark on a juice feast. It really is a great experience. I'm currently on day 24 of one myself.

I've had great results in relief of candida. It did take a good 20 days to get to this point though.

Happy juicing!:p

I think its a great little book ! I got the e-book Juice feasting too the other day and then 2 days later she released the printed version, I was like grrrrrr..... But all is good. I am going to start out by adding the juices and also green smoothies (more than i already am) over the next 2 months and then FEAST during the summer. I will also be doing the liver cleanse Angela and Alissa recommend this weekend:) Enjoy your feast !

EYB- you can pick up your own 'kit' at any pharmacy (cvs, walgreens, etc) they are either in the laxitive section or sometimes in the feminine product section. Not the same as professional colonics, but I have had good results.

Domestic Goddess & Eat Your Broccoli, glad to be of encouragement.:p You're gonna love this feast, I guarantee it!!!

I get my ememas from Walgreens too. There is a version that you can reuse with water in the tub, but I haven't invested in it. I'm not big on enemas to begin with so I doubt I'd get much use from it outside of the juice feast. I do feel so much better after I use one though! Whew! Nothing like having nothing in the tummy for a while.:D

do they have to be done in the tub?

im so grossed out by tubs already. an enema in a tub may be permanently traumatizing..

Hahahaha. Whew! You have a hard time with tubs huh!:p

What I should have shared is you hook the enema bag up to a faucet in the tub, and this is where you get the water supply to give yourself the enema.

I know what you mean though. The whole process isn't pretty. I much prefer the nice clean disposable enema kits from Walgreens.

So, is the idea that if you're fasting and start detoxing too hard, if you do an enema, you'll feel better?

For me, if I have been noticing 'cleansing' symptoms ie headache, etc an enema will typically eleviate those symptoms. I use coffee usually, or an herbal combo. You can also use epsom salt. I worked for a while in an Ayurvedic Medical Center and we always did massage, then an enema while people were there for cleansing. The idea was the massage pushed the toxins to the center of your body, and the enema took them out.

ETA: Enemas are NOT for everyone. They can be very powerful and intense and if you are already fasting your body is in a weakened state (at least in the begining) If you are VERY toxic, enemas will have a profound affect on your body and I have witnessed people passing out after one was done (at the Center) just from all the stuff they, um, released. The people were fine, it was just very powerful for them. (they did feel good afterwards) I'm not trying to scare anyone, just a warning.
