Hi, I'm completely new to raw. I've decided going raw will be the way I start to change my health for the better! A friend told me about Alissa's book, she has gone raw and is loving it. I've discussed it with my husband and I have his blessing (which is important to me)- I just need to get the foods, a dehydrator and Alissa's book and I'll be on my way! In the meantime I've been reading up on raw on the internet and I'm so excited to begin. I'm thinking tomorrow will be the day I go shopping!
Some background on me, I'm 28. Happily married to a wonderful man since 1998. 3 beautiful daughters- ages 7, 5 and 4. I had a rough first pregnancy, a healthy second pregnancy, and a near deadly third pregnancy that threw my body way out of whack. I suffer from a few medical issues that I try not to dwell on, and I am almost positive they can be corrected with a raw diet. I'm about 60 lbs overweight, I take medications for high blood pressure and mental disorders. My Dr. has hinted about putting me on a cholesterol medication.... I don't want to be on ANY medication anymore. So my solution is going raw first and seeing how it helps.
Thanks for reading!

Thanks! I am excited to see "dramatic changes" ! I was just sitting here thinking... I don't think I'm going to tell anyone (except my hubby) that I'm going raw. I'm just going to "do it" and then when they notice a difference, they'll ask!
I've been ready for a change for a long time, it's just been a matter of figuring out *what*. About 1.5 yrs ago I eliminated all PHO's (partially hydrogenated oils) and have been trying to stay away from HFCS (high fructose corn syrup)... but it's the sweets that kill me! I was so glad to see raw desserts possible. ;-)
Anyhoo, thanks again for the welcome. I'm sure you'll be hearing lots from me!

Aloha and Welcome from Hawaii!! I'm a newbie too! today is day 16 for me. :D , make sure you go to the journal area and keep a journal on your progress!
When I called to order Alissa's book - it was suggested that I also get the DVD - I figured what the heck - it's just a few more $. I am SO GLAD I DID!!
It was so informative - so motivating and yes - the stuff in the book is also on the DVD - but in a different format. Being new to raw food it was so helpful to see Alissa preparing the food - showing me right there IN MY LIVING ROOM (hahah!!) how easy it is! Plus my husband who doesn't like to read - walked in while I was watching it and he decided to go raw too! If I didn't have the DVD - it would've been much harder for me to explain to him - instead Alissa did it for me!! ;) (since then he's slipped now and again - but that's okay - he's about 90 to 95% raw) but he supports me all the way - because he understands better - having watched Alissa's video!
AND--- the before and after photos of the gals on the DVD with Alissa are astonishing  . When I'm feeling a bit down or discouraged - I just picture those photos in my mind and think to my self - THERE IT IS - RIGHT THERE - SUCCESS - YOU SAW IT - YOU SAW THEM BEFORE -- and theIR AFTER PHOTOS - OMG!! AMAZING !! Many blessings to you on your journey!
