View Full Version : # of days of damage "undone" by 1 day of fasting?

ive heard different numbers tossed around..but the most popular i hear is "for every day you fast, your body repairs 120 days worth of damage"

120 days?

that seems like a heck of a lotta repair to squeeze into 24 hours. but i do know our bodies are powerful

but then again, theres the "full cleaning will take 1 month raw for every year you were SAD" guideline that floats around the raw community, too. which is like..what..undoing 13 days of SAD damage for every day raw? and thats with digestion and whatnot. is fasting really about 10 times more powerful than just eating raw?

whatd'ya think?

any more guesstimates? opinions?

Hey eatyourbroccoli,
I believe it's more effective for the simple fact that you're getting in more nutrients in condensed form as well as giving the gut a rest so your body can focus on intense healing and not on digestion.

That's my little plug for juice fasting!:D

hi gwena :)

i definitely agree with that!

how much damage do you think your body can heal in a day though?

also i wanted to ask you..do you experience any difference on your juice feast b/w veggie juice and fruit juice?

hope you feast is going well.. take care!

Eatyourbroccoli,
Yeah, I wonder how much I actually repair in one day as well. To think I've reversed 120 days is fine and all, but I'm a hard skeptic and prefer to think of this feast as an overall, darn good cleaning out after 92 days as a whole.

You know, during the first couple weeks I couldn't take fruit juices all that well because they made my sugar go up and down. At day 24 I'm having no adverse affects from them. I guess I've figured out how to balance the acid/sugar with the alkaline/greens. When I do have a fruit juice, I usually have a green drink next and visa versa. Also, if I have orange juice, I often put a scoop of Perfect Food (Green Powder) in it.

Hope this answers your questions. :p

Pardon me if I budge in here....

If I understand the overall question, here is my personal understanding....

Fasting without resting will slow down the [healing] process. This process is done is stages and can be recognized using such charts like "Herings Law of Cure."

Those that fast without adequate rest (mind body and spirit) will not experience deep healing as those that exercise/not rest.

Sleeping at decent hours is imperative for fasters.

hi there misslinda :)

so how much do you figure can be healed per day for a faster who is laying around, taking it easy 24/7..getting a good 8-10 hours of rest per night?

and what are these..charts..you speak of? :p :D

* Chuckles *

I see, you are looking for the healing equation. I don't believe there is a mathematical formula that can outline what your body will accomplish in a day b/c so many variables are involved. Healing ~most definately is accomplished over a period of time. I have to also wonder, are you also looking to reverse the cell programming in the previously injured cells?

Understanding the Healing Crisis
I know of nothing more foundational to improving your health than understanding the healing crisis. In life things are often not what they seem. Our so-called education and life experience often lead us to fallacious assumptions that do us damage. No place is this more true than with how the healing process works. To experience optimal healing you must understand the process.

Here are some helpful info on Hering's Law of Cure

Constantine Hering, M.D. (1800-1880) observed that healing occurs in a consistent pattern. He described this pattern in the form of three basic laws which homeopaths can use to recognize that healing is occurring. This pattern has been recognized by acupuncturists for hundreds of years and is also used by practitioners of herbalism and other healing disciplines.

According to the first of Hering's laws, healing progresses from the deepest part of the organism - the mental and emotional levels and the vital organs - to the external parts, such as skin and extremities.

Hering's second law states that, as healing progresses, symptoms appear and disappear in the reverse of their original chronological order of appearance. Homeopaths have consistently observed that their patients re-experience symptoms from past conditions.

According to Hering's third law, healing progresses from the upper to the lower parts of the body. For instance, a person is considered to be on the mend if the arthritic pain in his neck has decreased although he now has pain in his finger joints.

As the symptoms change in accordance with Hering's Law, it is common for individual symptoms to become worse than they had been before treatment. If healing is truly in progress, the patient feels stronger and generally better in spite of the aggravation. Before long, the symptoms of the aggravation pass, and leave the person healthier on all levels.

How was it decided that this newly popular "feast" should be 92 days? I'm just curious.

How was it decided that this newly popular "feast" should be 92 days? I'm just curious.

something about how it takes 92 days (3 months) to completely rebuild tissue. i dont know. the proponent (in coalition with gabriel cousens) say a body can heal up to 120 days of moderate damage per day..so 120 * 92 is about 30 years of age..and i guess thats who this feast is mainly aimed at.

im only 20 and have been considering only going for 2 months. but i figure ill see how i feel once i reach that point and make my decision then.

www.juicefeasting.com has more info on it

Ah, yes. . the breakdowns. However many days it ends up to be, I really love noticing the rapidness of fastings effects.

Thank you, misslinda, for sharing all of those elaborate details.
