Hi all
Thought I would share a couple of interesting observations with you from a family get together this week.
Day 1: Two sweet children have been through the buffet line twice - both times for plates loaded with fruit. On their third pass, Grandma follows them up saying "Have you had any meat?? You have to eat some meat! You can't live on fruit alone - come one let's get you some ham!"
Day 2: Aunt E in the course of conversation with about 6 of us mentions that her doctor has diagnosed her with a mild case of osteoporosis. It is tough on her because she "knows" she needs to drink more milk but she just doesn't like it. I was shocked when the rest of the family then cimed in with how much they LIKED milk but had trouble getting enough because of how it affected them - sinus infections, itchy scalps, hives.... but they "know" it's good for them so they keep drinking it.
Day 3: There is a vegan cafe in town and I ask two of my sisters to join me in checking it out. One is game and the other says "why on earth would you want to go somewhere like that??" The utter shock on her face just made me want to giggle! :p
I was amazed that no one even questioned consuming something that made you feel yucky on the pure presumption that it is good for you regardless. A year ago, I would have been saying those exact same things!
I feel so blessed to be walking this road, to have my eyes open and a completely new perspective on health and nutrition.
