View Full Version : So, um, I have a question and a story

Ok, story first then question. I'll start off by saying I'm slightly sort of a hypochondriac. Not major, but there are little things that worry me too much. So yesterday I went to this Asian Market in my city because they have some bitchin vegetables there for real cheap. I went with this lady I know who rides the same bus as me. Well, she looked at me and told me that my face looked puffy and, after poking at my arm and pulling up the skin of my hand, told me that I have sooo much fluid in my body and that I look flushed. She also said I look a little flushed, which could very well have been from the fact that I had walked two and a half blocks from the bus station to the market. And then she said that she thought something bit me on the forehead (I have this nasty pimple on my forehead that I am waiting to get rid of.) She told me that if I still looked that way on Monday I should go see a doctor. Which leads me to the question, have any of you noticed your skin sort of being more, not necessarily puffy but more elasticy like and plump since going raw? Because when I think of healthy skin, I think of skin that is plenty hydrated and looks like it is getting enough water. I don't think of saggy, sallow, dehydrated skin that so many people have. Just curious.

I noticed when I ate a lot of greens my skin seemed drier, maybe it was detox, I don't know, but when I started eating a lot more fruit, my skin looked plumper, more hydrated. I can feel a difference in my muscles. They're more supple and there are less areas of sensitivity.

Thanks for the reply solarliving. I eat a lot of fruit, I love it, so that could be it for me as well.

Oh, I thought of the other questions I was going to ask. Don't laugh, as I have never had either of these items before and am genuinely curious. Can you eat plantains and ginger raw?

I eat ginger raw...but I've never eaten a plantain cooked or raw, so I can't help you there!

Magglepie, what sort of woman pokes you and tells you how ill you look!!
Don't listen to it. If your skin is hydrated, GOOD. If you have too much fluid, your body will flush it out. The only reason your skin would be retaining too much is if you ate too much salt, or you need to drink more water. Your skin does funky things anyway when you get flushed from excersise.
Do you FEEL sick? If not, look in the mirror. Does your skin look healthy to you? If yes, don't listen to people who are going to poke at you and tell you that you look ill! How rude!!

can't seem to find any of their own.
If i saw you i would think you looked fine compared to what i am seeing on the streets now days:(
Maybe next time you should tell the person how great you feel believe me you wouldn't have to listen to her put downs much longer.
Most people are toxic and love to make others feel bad about themselves.

Hey there ladies! Yeah Bethany it is funny how people are so quick to point out others that they think look "sick" just because those people may not follow the SAD. I don't feel sick. I don't look sick. CHL, I think that I may be retaining some fluid because I mixed a lot of salt in with my salads last week, but sometimes people do that. I feel better right now than I have felt in years. I have a little congestion and phlem from detox, but otherwise, big fat plus sign! I get so frustrated when people think that "alternative" diets that stray from what people see as the norm are horrible and unhealthy. Thanks for the responses!

I don't have a problem and i won't let others make me feel like i'm doing something wrong or that i'm having a bad day.
I refuse to be a garbage can for anyone, if someone is saying something negative i don't have to except it, nor will i.
When i found out that i can control my own destiny i started feeling great and when people see that what they are saying doesn't effect me they leave me alone. It's true that misery loves company and i don't have time for those kind of people in my life.
I want to make every moment that i have on this earth a postive one, there are no do overs here:)

That is something that I have slowly been working on w/my family. I have heard every joke on the planet...and it is just that: a joke. I keep Alissa's book (opened to the recipe I will be trying next) by my dehydrator and all my appliances. Its funny now only because I see them trying out my food. They especially love the desserts. But all those negative comments, if I accept what they say to me, I'm only allowing them to continue making them.
I agree with Beth, they also leave me alone for the most part, but have begun seeing the difference it's done for me. and every moment I have is a positive one. It just makes everyone want to talk to you, be with you...or just BE YOU! ;)
