Okay - so i am 6 months pregnant and i am NOT 100% at this point. Of course, i know that it is best - but i am concerned about the intense detoxing that has the potential to get me :p I already have to little ones - i couldn't handle being out of commission for a week....
So I just wanted to know if i am going about it right? Right now, i am probobly about 90% and getting mild headaches here and there.... but i can handle that. I just figured that i could slowly detox rather than just jump into it... make sense?
I would love the input.

WOW good for you to try at this point ! If I were in you shoes, I can only speak from that imaginary place:rolleyes: I wouldn't push your luck tooo much by trying to detox till after baby= congrats by the way:) . Anyways say your 10%-20% cooked ???? I would stay there and try to eat as healthy as possible COOKED food. Also you are prego so go easy on yourself NO-ONE I repeat NO- ONE knows what kind of harm full blown detox could have on a baby soo you wont get that answer here ! Be safe and if you are getting detox symptoms go even easier and DONT stress yourself over it whatever you do . THAT could have more harm than eating KFC everynight. AND boy did i eat KFC when i was preggo:p Take care, stay safe

While I'm a major proponent of detoxing and fasting (both juice & water), I honestly don't know about detoxing when pregnant. It seems like it would put undue hardship on your body.

yeah.... yesterday and today i was 100%.... to see how i would feel...
So far- Such high energy! I do have the occasional headache, but previousy i was already doing the healthy vegan thing. I ate a high raw diet (also gluten free) with things like rice/beans/veggies for dinner.
So - maybe there isn't a lot to detox?

Rice/beans/veggies sounds perfect for your cooked foods !

Sounds to me like you are doing great. It is true that some of us have a need to control detox so it sounds to me like you are in tune with what you need to do.

detox for me was very mild as I ate healthfully b4 raw. Like you, I experienced only headaches (mild) and some skin bumps, maybe an episode of lethargy, no worse than a carb hangover on a regular diet.
when I switched from 90 to near 100% ( Some condiments like olive oil in restaurants, tea, maple called for in raw recipes, etc), I experinced a quick drop of 3-5 pounds, but no additional symptoms of detox.
maybe you would have a similarly easy transition. Your body and your baby will let you know...I promise!
You would be surprised at how much your body and baby communicate with you at this point. Your baby practices eating by tasting the amniotic fluid and can develop preferences and allergies based on the quality of mom's diet. So, the measures you are taking are gonnabenefit him/her for a lifetime. if baby doesn;t like somethiing, s/he will let on with a kick or othjer similar sign. Some people get distinct feeling impressions that come from another consciousness ouside their own. Could this be baby talking to them? The moms who experience it think so, and I tend to trust their intuition about their own bodies and invited guests! It is amazing to realize how much communication and imprinting goes on pre-birth.
Just trust your body and the innately wise program of the new human getting to know the world thru you.
Also,, if raw improves your state of mind, stress hormones are not affecting your baby as much. This translates into a stronger, happier, more balanced little one!
You will also find that avoiding stressful situations as you get closer to birth will make your birthing experience easier!
I'm gonna digress from the detox portion just for a sec, b/c I think side fx of raw can really improve the birthing experience itself.
Did you know that you can have a perfectly calm, intense, but comfortable birth? A clean diet helps this process as it allows you body to just flow and surge with the perfect birthing process more easily. I find people on raw often seem to run a little cooler. That being the case, I wonder how many find it is less often that they are tense?
less tension = less pain during birth
less tension during birth also means baby does not have to fight tensed muscles to get out of the womb, and birth goes quicker, so baby gets adequate oxygen, and avoids unnecessary birth trauma. Another MAJOR gift for a lifetime.
back to the matter at hand:
Whatever you do...do it with gentleness toward yourself. 90% is a profound improvement in health over even the best vegan-cooked diet. You are already giving your baby nutrition which is of 100% better quality than typical diets afford.
If you feel compelled to try 100%, I don't think it would hurt. You say detox has been mild for you thus far.. If you want to try 100% just watch for anything that seems abrupt, and if things get more intense than you'd like, slip in a few bites of whatever you think will best slow down your detox- soemthing with a little more fat, a bite or two of cooked and so on.
Good luck & congrats on baby!

WOW! Thank you for such a detailed response!!:o
That was extremely encouraging.... i know that what i am doing is the best thing i could be doing... but as we all know - it can be hard. We had people over tonight and there was pasta. I was *so*excited that it didn't even apeal to me! It just looked like warm mush! I was so excited to have my own personal dish to delve into...
I have been mostly there for the last 4 or 5 days now. The only things i have been eating cooked are nut milks and rolled oats. So far - today i have just been fuzzy headed and tired...groggy. I have had these old pains come back to haunt me the last couple nights. With my first pregnancy, in 2002, i had this AWFUL pain in my neck/shoulder and arm. It was wierd and frustrating at first to be dealing with these again.... but then i was reminded that thses were all signs of a good efficient detox....
So, good! I am getting there.
I will stay at this %'age as long as the symptoms aren't overwhelming...
what *are* good things to nibble if i DO feel overwhelmed?
