View Full Version : Juice Fast Nuts & Bolts On-line?

Is there anywhere to learn about rules of fasting? At this point I really don't care about spiritual or emotional. I am trying to get well and I am financially challenged due to being unable to work and I find reading through all these threads tedious way to acquire knowledge.
I tried to fast at beginning of week and had stomach ripping cramping from the strawberry lemon juice. Obviously I have no common sense about this.
Reading through threads I learned that 2 lbs of greens and 1 head of celery every day is good. But that does not make me feel that I am now knowledge equipped enough to do a fast of any length.
I have done juice fasts for 2 days on the weekends and at the end of 2 days my teeth and gums are just itching to chew something! What do you do about that?
What juices have what effects on the body?
What juices are good for healing what things?
What combinations prove troublesome?
What combinations help you through the hunger?
What do you do if you get dizzy and nauseous?
Is there a combination that helps overcome the pounding headaches?
I have had problems in the past with broccoli and cabbage juice make the stomach crazy painful cramping - is there somewhere to learn combinations and amounts so I can get this good stuff down me without suffering? I mean surely I am not the only one who reacts this way to them.
Are you all just so healthy for starters that you can afford to play around like this or is there somewhere that you learned the basics that I can go and learn the basics too?
Or am I stuck trying to glean this knowledge from reading through hundreds of threads and websites that want to go on and on and on about everything but the nuts and bolts of fasting? (I think I might die before I figure this all out - it is too much information)

i chew my juices. seriously. but maybe im just weird..
What juices have what effects on the body?
all of them. green juices are great bc they contain chlorophyl which has the same constitution as human blood. fruit juices contain your vitamin c, vitamin a, etc. ive read its best to do a huge amount of green/celery juice, and then add in whatever other juices youre craving that do throughout the day. celery juice is more hydrating to your body than water is.
What juices are good for healing what things?
i had a link to a nice list and i accidentally deleted it last time i cleaned out my bookmarks. ill post it if i come across it again. green juice is very very healing overall. celery is hydrating. cuke is good for the skin. spinach is good for constipation. carrot is good for the skin if skin issues ARENT caused by sugar. same with beets. apple is good for constipation. ginger is good for nausea (ill vouch for that). thats really all i can remember since i usually stick with green.
What combinations prove troublesome?
none that im aware of.
What combinations help you through the hunger?
ive heard celery juice can help with this. also, juice a TON and just keep drinking. be sure to "chew" it, rather than just swallowing it. drink upwards of 3-4 liters a day, if you can.
What do you do if you get dizzy and nauseous?
juice celery and ginger together. helps me everytime.
Is there a combination that helps overcome the pounding headaches?
water

nope..i cant do cabbage juice either. do you have issues with cabbage and broccoli raw? usually i do..so far as bloating/discomfort. but this usually only happens with the regular white cabbage..kale is a type of cabbage, for example, and i can juice that just fine. the best things to juice ive found out are the deep leafy greens, celery, and all veggies that are juicy when you cut into them (i.e. not broccoli, cauliflour, zucchini..)

heres a great blog: http://www.rawreform.blogspot.com/ and if you scroll down on the right therell be a list that will lead you here: http://www.rawreform.com/content/view/271/#whatisjuicefeasting
that explains juice feasting (slightly different than fasting as you consume a lot of juice). you wouldnt by any means have to go the full 92 days..but i was by no means healthy when i started fooling around with this. but its making quite a large difference..particularly in my skin. my skin tends to be the measure of how healthy i am internally (as it is for some people..or as digestion is for some people..etc..)

no no, you wont die.
let me add im not a fasting expert. these have just been my experiences. you might also want to pop into the fasting threads on here, as misslinda has been at this sort of thing for what seems like years.

hey luckitri..found that site i was talking about..
http://www.juicingbook.com/vegetables/
you can hit fruits up top too for the fruit list. click the veg/fruit and it tells you what the juice will help health-wise, gives a breakdown of nutrients, and theres another tab for recipes on there too.

Hi Luckitri... EYB has already given you such good information. There is a thread that has lots of fasting information, links online if you would like to read more. I'll bump it up for you... 'Fasting Support' on the 1st page.
Fasting can be very healing to the body... wishing you a gentle, energized, healing journey. :D

Thanks EYB! Yes star1919, the more I read that thread - the more I know that I don't know. I would not mind being the one to organize it all - if I had more skills and were feeling better. Often when I go off RFT and read other sites about it I get even more afraid. I told dh that he needs to juice with me this weekend because he does smell bad and does not even know it. His toxic colon stinks up the whole house through his pores. I am too ignorant to know if with his diabetes and heart condition if I am making more problem for him but I think that with just 2 days of juice it will not be too much problem. He does not love spinach juice like me but I will make him salsa juice for starters. Then I will blend with some avocado so he will not feel deprived. Well he already had strawberry and lemon smoothie. Tonight I will make him slippery elm pudding and that will help clear him out too. I splurged and got a watermelon cause I read somewhere that really cleans out your kidneys and planning to even juice rind. I need to learn how to bookmark so I can know where I read what.
I just need to get off my duff and wash it!

Hi luckitri... Spinach juice is such a good one... I often combine it. Wonderful of you to take the time, to offer your family such healthy juicing, smoothie, eating choices! As for cleanses and fasts, what I do varies. And often, I find I am naturally drawn to what I need when in the produce section. It seems rather uncanny yet, positive for us to trust ourselves in the healing, fasting process.
Wishing you a gentle, healing journey... :D
luckitri,
It looks like you are getting wonderful answers to your questions from everyone here. If you have more questions, remember misslinda is a walking, talking "fasting bible!"
