7. What do you carry with you when you go out? Raw Crunch bars from Alissa's store, Island fruit (bananas, lychee, rambutan) or apples, oranges or pears.
8. How often do you still eat out? Since going raw - never - I'm enjoying experimenting too much! I can't get food this good in any restaurant - and there isn't a raw food restaurant on the Big Island of Hawaii that I know of.
9. What do eat eat when you eat out? I'm sure I'll be eating a salad (hold the parmesan cheese, hold the croutons... and any other cooked thing the Chef might want to throw on there!!)
10. What was detox like for you? Not too bad. Minor headache for a couple of days, some fatigue, but I also did the 'Master Cleanse' before going 100% raw. That helped me to stop smoking!
11. If you were stuck on an island with one raw snack, what would it be? Oh - that's hard... hmmm... I love avocados - but if I could only have ONE thing... I guess it would have to be coconut. I think that would be a smarter choice nutritionally.
12. What kind of raw food do you hate? So far - I haven't found anything I don't like.
13. How has being a raw foodist changed your life? I feel 'clear-er' mentally. My body feels cleaner than it ever has in any point in my life. 14. What is the most memorable reaction you've recieved for being raw? I've had two kinds of reactions. one - where friends try to 'tempt' me to have a drink or eat something dead ... When someone respects what you're doing - taking steps to be healthy and supports you in that journey -- now - THAT'S a friend ;) !

11. If you were stuck on an island with one raw snack, what would it be? A banana/coconut/cacao shake. YUM.

2) klick right on the marked text, and then left button "copy"(now its "saved" in the mouse)
3) Go there you want to hav the text (t. ex. reply-field). Click right button and the left "paste"

When I was cutting up a coconut to drink from and my mom said "Aren't coconuts high in fat?" (as they were getting ready to eat pizza :D ) --
Another one was when a friend asked "Doesn't it take a lot of work to eat raw?" and I responded, "Is it hard to pick a blackberry?" (We had blackberries all over the valley at the time). He smiled and said, "Why don't you just tell me I'm stupid?" :)
15. Have you ever been pregnant and raw?
No, I didn't discover the raw food diet until after I'd had my last baby. I have 6 children and have been pregnant 8 times. (all by my husband BTW  ) It would have been nice to have seen how eating raw could have enhanced my pregnancies.
16. What was the last thing you ate?
Something I haven't tried before. Baby coconut water blended up with some fresh strawberries. I froze it into a slush and it was good, but I like it better without the strawberries.

2. Did you go 100% right away? Yes, for a week and then went to about 50-75%. Trying to stay 100% during April but feel like high raw works well for me as long as I stay HIGH raw and not slide back into old SAD habits of refined foods (like cereal)
3. How did you discover raw? Husband and I decided to become vegan in January 2007 after much deliberation and study. Found RAVE diet (plant-based vegan) basically high-raw and some very supportive friends lent me books - including Alissa's book. I read it twice and went raw 2 days later.

8. How often do you still eat out? Way less than I used to. Occasionally I'll get a veggie sub or restaurant big salad - just order it w/ all the veggies they have - raw only. Use a little oil and lemon for dressing. I will also sometimes order guac if they have it.

Is rubbing off on my 6 year old son - making our whole family "greener" in all aspects of life. Happy to be free of aspartame and caffeine addiction (Diet Cokes and Starbucks Latte)
14. What is the most memorable reaction you've recieved for being raw? My SAD smoker overweight Mom asked me how I would get my protein and calcium (she was literally eating a double cheeseburger from McD's at the time)... Also, people ask "what can you eat?" I tell them I can eat whatever I want as long as it comes from the earth...
15. Have you (or your lady of course) ever been pregnant and raw? No. I had rough pregnancies and both were riddled w/ fast food - the greasier the food, the less I threw up. Not sure why that is, but I wonder how I would have done on raw... I'm done having kids - 2 is it for me. :)

Wow, I'm so glad so many of you posted! I feel very encouraged. I ran out of food in may house today so by the time my husband got home from work I was STARVING! We all went out to eat and I ate a veggie wrap at a health food restaurant. A few of the veggies were cooked in it. oops.
That's what I get for not being prepared. I learned my lesson....
Thanks for all the good ideas about recipees...
It's good to see so many of you have been at it for so long and still going strong. That gives me tons of hope that this can be lifelong for me too.
And hats off to all those who have SO MANY kids. You are my heroes!;)

10. What was detox like for you? I think that I have done a lot of gradual detoxing over time, and did a juice fast about 20 days ago. I think I still have deep detoxing to do, since I have weight to lose, and know toxins are stored in fat. I am curious to see what it is like. 9. What do you eat when you eat out?
Salad
10. What was detox like for you?
First time, no symptoms at all. I was 5 months pregnant too! Second time: Double sinus infection so bad I thought I was dying. Lasted a week before I was told about probiotics. That cleared it up with 24 hours I was so much better. Headache first day or so. Prolly from caffiene. I clear lots of mucus when I go raw too.
11. If you were stuck on an island with one raw snack, what would it be?
Wheatgrass. Grass has the power to sustain us indefinitly with no other food needed. Plus with all the ocean water nearby, I could grow it and it would have all 92 minerals. Any other foods i'd forage for would be icing on the cake!
12. What kind of raw food do you hate?
Hate is too strong of a word really. I'm not fond of nut sauces, cheeses or pates. I cannot eat a plain banana. Yuck.
13. How has being a raw foodist changed your life?
It has set me on my path and awakened me to my true self. I healed or am healing ALL my health issues and I feel so much better then ever in my life before. I feel my connection to 'all that is' is so strong now.
14. What is the most memorable reaction you've recieved for being raw?
Oh yeah I eat only chicken now too. (WTF?!) It is weird to me when someone will tell me oh yeah I eat so healthy etc and come to find out it's no different then what most people eat.
15. Have you (or your lady of course) ever been pregnant and raw?
Yes. For one month. All my morning sickness went away & I had so much energy & felt so great that people always commented on how I was 'not a normal pregnant person'. I agree, I sure wasn't! I never felt better in my life!
16. What was the last thing you ate?
Asparagus
1. How long have you been raw? Around 62 days
2. Did you go 100% right away? No, it took me a while to warm up to the idea. Then it took me a while to test the waters. And finally, I committed. That whole process was about two years.
3. How did you discover raw? I'm fairly sure it was Alissa's gorgeous web site.
4. What is your favorite fruit? I have too many favorites! Avocado, Strawberries, Grapefruit, Lemons, Cucumber (technically a fruit)...
5. What is your favorite veggie? I'd say Cucumber (again!), but because it's really a fruit, I guess I'd have to say that I love the versatility of celery. (And I just read an interesting article by Doug Graham about celery at his site (http://www.foodnsport.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=543&Itemid=26).)
6. What is you favorite raw recipe? My favorite dessert recipe would have to be Not Peanut Butter Cookies from the book Raw Foods for Busy People (http://www.amazon.com/Raw-Foods-Busy-People-Machine-Free/dp/141161836X/ref=sr_1_1/104-4619879-4477506?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1178125761&sr=8-1). Favorite meal recipe, I think, would have to be Alissa's Almond Falafal. Yum!!!

9. What do eat eat when you eat out? Salads or just plain veggies.
10. What was detox like for you? I think my first detox symptom occurred last week. I got something that I think was a cold sore. I say I "think" it was, because I've never had one before. I didn't do anything with it, except to notice it... and within a couple of days it went away. (Thank goodness!)
11. If you were stuck on an island with one raw snack, what would it be? Just one??? My first instinct would be to go with what so many others said - Avocadoes! But, I think the coconut is probably the best choice, because it contains both "meat" and healthful water.
12. What kind of raw food do you hate? I am such a picky eater, I find too many things to dislike. :( It doesn't help that I have several food allergies to heal, as well. So far, I really just can't make myself like flax crackers, no matter how many times I make them. I also am not a fan of macademia nuts or the nut cheeses and desserts.
13. How has being a raw foodist changed your life? I definitely am eating more fruits and vegetables! I was NOT eating enough of them before going raw. I have a few health issues to heal before I'll see dramatic results, I'm sure... (I have Lucy's message about her thyroid burned in my brain!)... but, I have lost weight.
14. What is the most memorable reaction you've recieved for being raw?
Friends are wanting to try it! :)
15. Have you (or your lady of course) ever been pregnant and raw? Never been pregnant. Our kids are dogs and cats. However, here's an interesting thing! Our dogs are more interested in eating fruits and veggies now! Last night, while I was washing greens and veggies for today's lunch, instead of throwing stuff in the composting pail, I was giving them to my dogs. One ate every single thing I gave her! (The other spit out the kale and lettuces.)
16. What was the last thing you ate? A salad consisting of several types of lettuce and kale, basil, avocado, sliced radish and celery, topped with the Fit for Life dressing recipe (3 Tbs olive oil, 1 Tbs lemon juice, ts Celtic sea salt).
YUM! (I did miss the cucumber though!)
