I do not believe it is really raw but I am no expert. If your body has a tendency towards diabetes or cancer - Sugar use will bring it on. Maybe you are at an age where you find that too hard to believe. I know I was and I put this whole health thing down. Well, now I am older and I know that it is true. There are many other problems with the use of sugar - it throws your whole system out of whack.

It's not really raw. Just not bleached. And it's probably not vegan either.

I just use dates. I get fresh dates from Iran which are delicious and truly raw. I make date syrup out of them and use it like honey or agave nectar. I have never heard about making sugar out of them, great tip, thanks.

Sugar In the Raw is simply turbinado cane sugar, so it is not raw.

Hey...I know sugar in the raw...is not raw. I HAVE recently found stevia in Walmart...right along side the artificial sweetner where they sell stuff for diabetics! It was also only @ $8 ($8 and change) as opposed to just over $11 at the HFS! (It was in the same box and everything!) I'd keep checking...or maybe talk to the manager of your supermarket. Sometimes they will order stuff if they KNOW about, appeal to how safe it is, and how popular it is becoming among diabetics, and those who know about true health. Maybe they will order it!
Good luck.

Aside from Whole Foods, my local GNC has started carrying Stevia Plus! I confess it is a bit of a crutch for me and I go through a 100 pack box in a month.

Why would "Sugar in the Raw" not be vegan? It is not filtered through a bone char filter.
