Hi folks! I'm still pretty new to raw food. I first found out about it a few years ago when I did the master cleanse. I tried to start eating raw afterwards but ended up going back to HORRIBLE eating patterns and gaining a TON of weight (and I was already overweight to begin with! UGH!). I feel like I'm finally ready to commit to the raw lifestyle though as I'm ready to get healthy and lose the weight. I'm very lucky to have a supportive boyfriend who is going raw as well (I make all the food so what choice does he have? lol). We've been about 70% for a month now, but we've had a few slip ups. Luckily those slip ups made me feel really horrendous so I'm even more determined to keep up the raw.
This looks like a really great forum! I can't wait to get to know other raw folks and LEARN!

Cheers!

Jen

I did the same thing -- I did a blessed herbs cleanse but then a family loss made me not care so much, and I either didn't eat or grabbed fast food. Since I am so used to SAD food from being raised by parents from the 50s, I was so thrilled to get Allisa's book, and the food inside really is incredible. I feel tons better even though I don't see the results I expected, but her food makes eating well easy, as long as you still stick to a lot of veggies and not as much of her nut-oriented recipes(which a lot have -- I am now kicking myself for not making the spagetti more often, when I crave "normal" food, since it's mostly veggies). Good luck!

Hi vintagegirl, welcome!

You have an Optimum Health Institute right there in Austin. I'd recommend a visit. I go to the OHI in San Diego a lot. The one here in CA has a visitor's day every Sunday when people can get a tour, orientation and free meal. Maybe the Austin facility does the same. www.optimumhealth.org

Best wishes!

:) Thanks folks! BethMarie, I haven't seen the fantastic results others have just yet either. I do feel better at times, but I think my body has ALOT of stored up crud to get rid of so it may take time. I have lost a couple pounds though so I'm sure the other 100 or so will follow...eventually!
Thanks for the Optimum Health link VeggieMel! I haven't heard of them so I can't wait to check it out!

Have a beautiful day!
