I want to fast and I know I'm not capable of just doing a water fast. Food has too much of a hold on me right now. In fact, that's why I want to do the fast. I've been raw since November 1st and have gotten to the point where I can eat even raw food in an unhealthy way. Yesterday I ate cooked at a party and I really feel like I need to cleanse my body and let go of all these food addictions. I know most of this is in my head. I eat very large portions and I'm hungry all the time because of it too.

So, I'm doing a juice fast. Is anyone interested in doing one with me? Does anyone have any tips? I've been doing Yoga and meditating, can I still do the yoga? I'm already pretty wobbly, I'm wondering if it's advised to do yoga when doing a fast?

I just need to let go of food and get to a place where my LIFE is the focus, not food. I don't like the control it has over me.

Have you read Tom McGregor's e-books? He has one on the subject of fasting and another on the subject of breaking food addiction. Both are excellent (and he recommends using them together) He sells all 4 of his e-books together for $24.99 on freedom-you.com I found them excellent. (the other 2 books are on why eating raw is ideal and a cookbook :) )

I have been juice fasting for most of the last 2 weeks. It really keeps your energy up and makes things easy. I feel so great doing it. I have been drinking tons of water and some herbal tea with honey in the morning. In the beginning I was trying to juice a bunch of veggies but I am finding I feel better on mostly fruit and cucumber juices.

Definitely keep up with the yoga practice. It will help you to further detoxify. By twisting, squeezing, and stretching your body you will be better able to eliminate toxins and also it will help to relax you and carry you through some of your worse time on the fast. I wouldn't suggest doing any type of power or bikram just stick with gentle, restoritive yoga! Have fun!

Thanks Stacey and Rawjojo for the advise! I'm on day 3 now and amazed at how well I've done! I've had some really hard moments around SAD food where the smell seems to be torturing me, but I feel strong and in control. I've been doing my yoga and feel wonderful. I'm going to go 7 days and end my fast on Thursday b/c I'm going out of town for the day on Friday and won't be able to juice.
