I am new to all this, so bear with me.
This transitioning - I assume that's the body readjusting to the new body.
Why does it take so long, as I have read people say years!!!!!
How do you know when you have transitioned?
Also, I keep reading things about people being really sick when detoxing. Is that the sign I should look out for to know that my body is doing this?? I know it sounds stupid, but how do I know I am detoxing
Transitioning just means that people are slowly transitioning eating from a standard american diet (SAD) to a raw foods diet. It means people may choose at first to eat raw 50% and then add in more and more raw food in their diet until they are 100% raw.
Detox symtoms can be headaches, tiredness, breakouts, etc. Some people even get sick with a minor cold. You just don't feel at your optimum healthy self. I experienced severe headaches on and off for a few weeks when I started raw. Everyone is different. It just depends how bad your diet was before you went to raw food.
Hope this answers your questions.

People use the word *transition* in different ways. It's not about the body adusting, it's really just about how long YOU choose to take to go raw. Transitioning from a SAD diet to a raw one. It takes some people a long time because social pressures and personal choices. Some people never transition to a 100% raw diet. Some don't transition at all and go raw overnight! :)
Detox is different for everyone. Some people break out, some get headaches, some flu symptoms...some nothing! Your body has been processing junk and chemicals for many many years, so it takes a while for the system to get cleaned out! You don't really need to know if you are experiencing detox, if you feel badly, just remember to give it some time and that eating cooked will just prolong it. Usually any really harsh detox will happen the first week or so.

If you go and listen to Revvell's interview w/Victoria Boutenko, she was saying that detox happens when people go raw and don't get enough fiber. Go listen to the interview! It'll help and it certainly couldn't hurt.

-You're done transitioning when you are 100% comfortable with your chosen level of fresh plant food eating.

If you are on a raw diet then and not eating cooked food, does that mean your body fully heals and gets rid of all the chemicals and bad stuff you have been eating over the years? Is it as simple as that (although not as simple to put in practice for some of us :) )
I had another small question too. Why do prof nutritionists not talk about this more, they talk about fruit and veg, but not the raw stuff. I am talking about mainstream books etc....although I prob just answered my own question. Why is milk excepted by all in the west, is it so bad? Is there some power with milk companies? How come raw food isn't stg everyone is talking about? Is it because its perceived as extreme today?
If I am going to present all this to my husband I need some good back up because he already thinks I am a bit bonkers :p

-If you are doing healthy and joyful things in your life - then yes......eating fresh fruits and vegetables can be a wonderful and simple tool to health.
-The fact is that there is more money to be made selling crap. No big conspiracy. Just like you can make more money selling drugs or oil than you can selling apples and solar panels. :)
-And you'll NEVER really convince anybody of anything! Ha! ha! Convince them with who you are, your lifestyle, and how happy you are. If you are THAT kind of person, everyone will want what YOUR'E having anyway!
-Just my opinions.
