Hello :) I have had a reasonable diet for the last 7 years or so but have eaten a lot of veg cooked as I could not tolerated raw. After reading a number of your blogs, and Alissa Cohen's book, I am giving the raw life a shot.

I have a couple of blocks that will be very hard to get over. Number One: I am British, and giving up my cup of tea is going to be tough. I made the move from cow to soya milk a number of years ago and that was hard enough. Number Two: I live in South Florida and the though of giving up home caught raw Tuna is tough. But...I am going to give it a try.

Now I have a question, I am often cold and find that drinking warm water throughout the day really helps. Does this clash with the Raw Life Style?

Anyway, thanks for letting me get it all out.
Nice to be here,
Cheers, Laura

Hey Elfie. Cute name! Welcome to raw. I admit, I haven't given up tea. There was a thread not to long ago asking what was wrong with tea and I don't think anyone had an answer. And I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with hot water, but someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

As for the tuna, I think there are raw tuna recipes floating around. If not post in the recipe section and I'm sure one of our resident raw chefs can figure something out.:)

Welcome to the board!

Do what you feel comfortable with and just get started eating more raw fruits and veggies. I too drink tea occasionally and many others do too. You may want to slowly transition into raw and increase the amount of raw food you eat overtime so it doesn't feel so overwhelming as you are learning. A lot of people take this approach.

Best of luck with your new journey and congratulations for doing something good for you!

Hi Elfie! Do you live near a Nutrition S'mart health food store? They have a few of them in South Florida. There are free raw classes there and they could probably answer many of you questions. Try to check out Glaser Farms. You won't be sorry!

Where in Florida are you located?

Thanks Everyone for the suggestions, good wishes and comments. Sorry about my reference to fish, I felt bad about that comment later.

Nini: Thanks. I found Glaser Farms in my Local Nutrition S'mart (Pembroke Pines) and find there products very good. They are expensive but still cheaper and easier than purchasing a dehydrator. I shall wait a while before I do that, I am not much into cooking or uncooking anyway.
Cheers, Elfie
