View Full Version : Why craving chocolate?

Hello all in raw land :D

Well I have a question about cravings and what they mean. I seem to do quite well with raw until it comes to chocolate and sweets... well mainly just chocolate. I have tried raw chocolate treats but they just aren't the same for me, so I guess I have to get used to the fact that I am going to have to say goodbye to the chocolate I know and like.

I am wondering if there is a way to help me through saying goodbye to this SAD tie that leads me down the road to more SAD eating. Maybe I am craving fat when I think I am craving chocolate? Maybe I should try having some nuts instead?

What are your thoughts on cravings, and what can I do to help get me through these chocolate and sugar cravings? Thanks.

chocolate cravings often accompany a need for more magnesium. You can get that by upping your greens.

I find my sugar cravings subside when I have some raisins, or a date.

Fat cravings go away with a few nuts or a slice of avo.

Making some chocolate macaroons would be easy and a great way to satisfy your chocolate cravings, as well as any need you have for fat. ( I use a recipe that includes coconut oil and cacao or cocoa powder.

I gave some to my SAD eating friend and he had no idea they were raw. It's the recipe from Raw Food Real World. He texted the next day hat he ate them all in one sitting! Making them takes 5-10 mins plus a little dehydrator time. Great stuff. YUMMM! If you use the recipe from that book, you can usually cut the dehydrator time down to a couple of hours. They taste better when they're a little moist like truffles.

It is your bodies' cravings telling you what nutrition it needs. Women need magnesium for their female cycle and that is found in chocolate. So just as above poster wrote. Replace the source (of magnesium) and the craving should subside.

Ok, so if chocolate cravings mean women need magnesium, and I drink about 20 ozs of green juice daily and have a green salad for lunch, what more can or should I add? Thanks! Learning, learning, learning and love the support!
