It stuck to the shelves in the dehydrator, it's the round kind and my husband said it tasted like flavored paper.
What did i do wrong?
Please help me if you can, i think maybe i sliced it too thin.

I have the round kind of dehydrator, too. I think you probably did slice it too thin - sometimes my thinner ones get stuck. Also, they should be very well drenched in the marinade - I mean, I do lightly brush off the excess b/w my fingers before putting them on the tray, but they should still feel pretty oily. Make sure you had enough marinade for all your eggplant - maybe that's why they didn't taste like much? My husband only likes them on sandwiches. I like them dipped in nutritional yeast, but I think they're too intense on their own. They're good in salads.
Also, how do you slice them? I just use a vegetable peeler and it works quite well.

Hmmm, interesting. I love to eat the bacon by itself. If I'm not careful, I can eat it all out of the dehydrator at different stages in the dehydrating process.
I make the marinade using way less oil than the recipe calls for because I find that the volume of marinade increases as the eggplant marinades. (Perhaps it draws the liquid out of the eggplant).
I don't know what to tell you about the sticking because I have a square dehydrator and it's worked well whether I've used thin slices or thick ones.
If you read through the board you'll find that making raw recipes is often trial and error. I believe the key to success is to keep trying.
Good luck,

I find that the round dehydrators aren't good for much, and thank goddess mine broke...I needed an excuse to get rid of the thing.
If it stuck it's probably that you sliced it too thin...OR, are you using teflex sheets? Those help : )

I'll make some more today using your ideas. I'll try not to slice it too thin, i did use a vegetable slicer.
I will also maninade them longer.
And i only had a couple of teflex sheets and you are right they do prevent sticking. I will try to us parchment paper on the other rounds.
I had a square dehydrater but it finally stopped working and i could not afford another one.

I am very happy for this thread as I am making it for the first time this weekend and promised the standard american diet girls I work with (that I looooove but who eat tons of meat/fast food) samples. I will be using the recipe with Liquid Smoke in it as I heard it makes it kickarse. Love the feedback on this thread!
