I have been about 95% raw for a month now. I have cravings at times for carbs - i.e., pasta(!) or bread - usually in the evening after work (about 8 PM). It seems that my body loves the raw diet, but there are those times where I want to eat a loaf of bread! Any suggestions? I have read that there is that transition time. However, how does this work? Should I expect this for about one year? Is there something I can eat that will "answer" this craving? At those times, I just cannot be satisfied by veggies or nuts. Thanks!

Hey there. First off - welcome! Second - do you have Alissa's book? I believe she discusses that in there.
Also, how about drinking a green smoothie with dinner or FOR dinner? Put in an avocado. Maybe your body is really craving some good fat? Or a handful of nuts w/dinner?
Dunno - I'm sure others will suggest other things...

Hi there,

Many people find that eating more fruit helps reduce cravings for cooked starches. It is normal and healthy for our body to crave carbohydrates. Our bodies and brains run on glucose, it is our largest nutritional requirement, the natural, healthy, delicious way to get all this glucose is with fruit. :-) Eat more fruit! It will help keep you feeling satisfied, energetic and happy.

All the best,

Audrey

If you want bread you can try this recipe for onion bread. I made some and finished it in two days. Yummy. http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1005&highlight=onion+bread
