Just curious....does anyone know of a recipe for raw Mud Pie??? I haven't been able to find one for this and I thought I'd try to come up with a recipe if it hasn't been done yet.

I have some ideas for the crust and chocolate sauce to drizzle over. But any ideas on what would give the pie filling a "coffee" flavor without using actual coffee beans?? I know that Alissa has a mocha smoothie but I gave my book to a friend to borrow so I can't look at it right now. :) Would love to brainstorm with others for this recipe... :D

Hi Joclyn,

Congrats on your RawReform chocolate contest victory!!!!:D

Depending on how you feel about using flavorings or extracts, you might try one of them. I saw a coffee extract at the hfs, I think it was frontier brand. Also, you might try Pero, although that is not Raw....

hmmm...there was a post several days ago, mentioning a tea that had a coffee like flavour

Hi Elizabeth! Thanks! Yes, it was pretty cool I was picked since I rarely ever win anything by random drawing. LOL! Perfect timing too because I'm doing the 30 day challenge for April! :)

Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't even know there was such a thing as coffee extract. I'm going to try to mimick Trader Joe's mud pie. Theirs is really good but of course it's not raw and it has a lot of other unhealthy ingredients in it.

it should be easy to do the crust/chocolate then pile mile high chocolate or coffee Ice Cream and freeze again. Then drizzle chocolate sauce and top with whipped cream:

I did a SAD version; Froze the crust which only came up the spring form. Filled with scoops of vanilla, coffee, and chocolate ice creams. Placed chocolate wafers between them. Drizzle chocolate sauce (thick) and topped with whipped cream. Very festive ! and it was delicious !

jocelyn,

I've also noticed that Brazil Nuts lend a very "coffee" flavor to things, so maybe using them creamed with coconut meat? Oooh. I'm hungry for coconuts now. :)

Oooh, RawVee...brazil nuts and coconut! Sounds like a great combo! Will definitely give it a try. I never heard about brazil nuts lending a coffee flavor. Thanks for the tip! :)

I'm so glad you agreed to post your results and """picture"""? It's a simple recipe, I'm sure it will be better than 'sad' version !
